Our 2nd Trip to Disney! Did it Measure Up? (w/pics) **THE END**

Awww, sorry that day didn't quite turn out as planned with the rain and all. Don't you hate when you do a nice gesture and no one seems to care and then someone else comes behind you and they are a hero or something?:confused3 Whats up with that?!?

Anyhoo, can't wait to read some more soon.

I understand. We too probably won't go back for a while (maybe holidays2010). We can't all be as lucky as Liz.:confused3 Dr. Suess said, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." I try to keep that in mind when I'm feeling blue. Hopefully writing your report will cheer you up. Keep at it!:cheer2:

Writing the trip report makes me miss it more!! ;) I've talked my way into a "tentative" trip in December 2009. We'll see what happens, but for the moment it's making me happy :goodvibes

I had a good chuckle over you singing "it's the end of the world as we know it"!:rotfl2: I'm sure you did get alot of interesting looks!

Hey now. I'm not a bad singer ;) The funny thing is we actually heard that song somewhere later in the week (can't remember where though...probably on the radio).

I know! I felt like chopped livah, I tell ya. She probably would have taken it if I'd actually had it out of the back pack and in hand. She was probably just being polite by saying no. Oh well. I hope they found their car without drowning in the rain.

Hi!!! Just joined your tr and loving it! So glad you didn't run into traffic on the beltway. My brother lives in MD and we're in the DC area often and it's a complete nightmare!!!

Turns out, I was stuck in the same storm on Saturday night (1/19), but in Epcot. People were actually screaming as they ran for their cars, buses, and the monorail! I've never seen anything like it. We managed to make a mad dash for the monorail and back to the Poly. I'm glad you got back to your hotel safely!

Can't wait to read more!

:welcome: I've seen you over at Jordan's PTR. Glad to have you join us :)

I'm glad to hear someone else describe the storm like that! I thought maybe I was overreacting, but it sure was scary.

Isn't it always the way that you either get sick during or after your Disney trip? Last trip I felt a bit sick during the trip (wasn't able to fully enjoy 'Ohana because of it) and Sully got sick on the day we drove home. I think all 3 boys ended up with bad colds afterwards.

Well, tonight Owen was complaining that his "neck" hurt. He always says that when he means his throat. He didn't want to eat supper. I gave him some tylenol for the sore throat and not long after, he gave me a lovely surprise  He's thrown up twice. I'm really hoping this isn't going to go around the entire household (although as I just told Chuck, it IS a good way to lose some weight :thumbsup2 ). I'm feeling a bit yucky myself, but I'm hoping it's just the reaction from seeing mac and cheese as well as carrots make a return visit in my kitchen :scared: I'm very grateful that no one got sick while we were at Disney :)

I'm going to go work on Day 3, but I'm not going to post it until tomorrow. I'm trying to pace myself, remember? ;)

And, American Idol tonight :dancer: Bonus, a new episode of House!

Up Next...The Parents' Cheer Up Call

At least he waited till you were home to puke all over!:goodvibes At least, I hope he didn't on vacation!

This is an awesome trip report. You are a talented writer!

Awwwww...thanks so much! Writing is something that I have come to really enjoy at this stage in my life. I really appreciate your comment :goodvibes

And :welcome:

I am very thankful he didn't get sick while we were down there! He is prone to throwing up though (motion sickness and strong gag reflex).

I just got off the phone with my parents.

Me: Hello?

Parents: <singing> Hoop Dee Doo! Hoop Dee Doo! (those that have been to the HDD will recognize the tune ;))

Me: *laughing*

Dad: We got your email about suffering from Disney withdrawl and wanted to call and try to cheer you up a bit.

Me: I totally wasn't expecting that when I answered the phone! And it just makes me miss Disney more. But, thanks for the effort.

Stepmother: We totally can commiserate with you. We want to go back too.

Me: I'm thinking December 2009 might have our name on it.

Dad: I KNEW you'd cave and plan another trip for next year!

Me: Yeah, yeah. Technically, it IS next year, but it's really like two years away.

Dad: Well, you know you can put us down for it.

Aren't my parents great? :lovestruc

I'll get to it soon, but after we saw the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, we couldn't stop singing the song. Out of the blue someone would begin bellowing out, "Hoop Dee Doo! Hoop Dee Doo!" No one could remember any of the other lyrics, but those were the important ones anyway ;)

We have so many great memories from this trip and I can't wait to share them all with you :)

Oh, shoot! I was suppose to pretend that this trip totally stunk, wasn't I? I was suppose to keep you all in suspense, wondering if this trip would measure up! Darn it. I might as well hang up my typing fingers now. It's all over with. No reason to go on.

Except. Perhaps there were other exciting, once-in-a-lifetime moments that you aren't aware of yet! Yes, there MUST be more I can entice you with!

Until tomorrow...

Thanks :) It's DS that is sick, though, not DH (although he could be next and we really don't want to go there as DH vomiting is not a pleasant sound). He vomited through the night (even in his sleep and didn't wake up), but seems better this morning. I'm keeping him home from school today, obviously. Now we wait and see if anyone else gets sick.

I had forgotten to post 3 pictures of the boys that I took back at the hotel at the end of the day so I just added them in (Day 2 - Part 3). The one of Connor is super cute :) I also decided the pictures in the last few posts were too small so I'm going to make them bigger in the rest of the TR.

We woke up the next morning to bright sunshine. It looked like a gorgeous day, although it was suppose to be chilly. After getting showered and dressed, we headed downstairs for the (let’s say it all together now) FREE breakfast! I guess it really isn’t free, is it? I mean, you pay for the room and the breakfast is included. Wait. Remember FDM (Fuzzy Disney Math)? We got a great rate for the room and could have easily spent that or more at another hotel that didn’t include breakfast. So, there ya go. FREE breakfast :woohoo:

It was pretty much the same exact breakfast as the last Hampton Inn. Again, not great, but it filled us up. We finished eating and then returned to our room to finish packing up. We would be checking into our town home later in the day :cheer2:

We all wore layers to combat the cold morning (in the 40’s). We had long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, and windbreakers along with hats and mittens. We were ready, baby!

We arrived at DHS (are they ever going to change the signs or just keep MGM up forever to confuse everyone?) shortly after opening.

We grabbed our rental stroller (it was so nice not to have to pay each day and just use our prepaid rental ticket) and headed at a leisurely pace to Star Tours. Along the way we asked Connor if he wanted to ride. I wasn’t sure he’d be tall enough and I was pretty sure he’d be scared during the ride. But, he said he wanted to ride and Chuck thought he’d be fine.

We got to our spacecraft and the CM had him go over to check his height. Now, we had checked his height ourselves before heading in and he just made it (he had been measured at the doctors a day before we left for Disney and his height was a bit over 39 inches so I figured with shoes on he’d be good). At first it wasn’t looking like he was going to make the height requirement and he kept standing on tiptoe (and NO I did not tell him to do that :snooty: ). Finally, we get the go ahead by the CM. Phew! :yay:

But, I begin to have doubts again. Connor had started to get a bit scared as we walked up the ramps through the line (where you can look down below). Then I realized it was because he’s scared of heights and it wasn’t the themeing and characters that were scaring him. I tried to convince Chuck to take Connor out, even if it was against his will. I just did not want to get in the ride and have Connor scream through the entire thing and ruin it for the other guests.

Chuck said he’d be fine (I guess Dads are always the tougher ones, eh?). The ride begins and this is the first time I’d been on it as well. The special effects were pretty cool, but I can say once was enough for me on that ride. It made me feel a bit motion sick. I was fine once the ride was over, though. Connor seemed to love it! No problems from him at all. Success!

After Star Tours we headed to the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playset. The kids were already bugging us to go in there and I figured, what the heck. This was another – let’s be spontaneous! – bonus day. I also figured it would be less crowded in there during the morning hours.

We all got shrunk and headed in. One of the CM’s mentioned that because of the rain the night before, the spider’s web net was wet and it was closed for now. She was afraid we’d be really upset, but I told her no worries. The boys had fun going on the slide and I made a point of taking Owen up to the dog’s nostrils and sticking our hands in and listening.

We played for a while and then figured it was time to wrestle up our guys. The only way we got them to willingly leave was to say that we “might” go back later in the day if there was time. My gameplan was that if we spent a good amount of time in the play area today, we wouldn’t have to go back when my parents were visiting with us.

On the way out Sully told a CM (the same one that told us about the net) that we might be back later in the afternoon. She said they’d try really hard to get that Mr. Sun to shine brightly and dry up the net so that they could play in it :goodvibes

Once outside in the Streets of America, who should we see, but the POWER RANGERS!

And not only did we see the Power Rangers, but the poor Power Rangers were practically all alone. It was really sad actually. We hurried over (you know how fast their time goes) and Owen jumped out of the stroller and began posing and shaking hands and making silly stances. I thought it was so cool that he got 3 Power Rangers in ONE picture!

IMG_2960.jpg

Then he went up to the Pink Ranger. They did their thing and Owen just stood in front of her, staring at her. And she stared back. She bumped fists with him. And they stood there. I’m not sure what Owen was waiting for, but it was funny :rotfl:

Owen climbed back in the stroller (neither Sully, nor Connor wanted to meet the Rangers this time around) and then the Red Ranger headed over to visit for a while. He even bumped fists with Sully. Photopass got pictures of this, but I didn't get any with my camera.

To say we got some undivided attention from the Power Rangers is an understatement. Very cool :thumbsup2

We had an ADR at Sci Fi Drive In Theater for 11:20 and we had time for one more ride before then so we headed over to the Great Movie Ride. This was another first for us! There was a bit of a wait, but we moved along pretty quickly. I liked watching the movie clips on the big screen, but could have done without the Alien scene :scared1:

I took a few pictures as we were waiting in line, but didn't realize until the end that somehow my camera had changed settings so most of the pictures came out funny.

We really enjoyed The Great Movie Ride and it wasn't until we rode it again later in the week that we realized it changes depending on which cast you get ;)

Up Next...Where's Chuck?

I'm here, I'm here! LOVE it so far!!!!!!!!!!! Owen staring at the pink ranger cracked me up!

I wish I would have made you tell me how the trip had gone when I talked to you down there....the suspense is going to drive me nuts! ;)

I love the pictures with the power rangers! So cute!

Hee, hee - love the pics with the pink Power Ranger! Sorry, no Power Rangers in our house - I banned them after ds started imitating them a bit too much. So, they didn't get any attention from us, either.

Btw, did you see Kim Possible? We were the absolute LEAST impressed with how they did her as a face character, of all the ones we saw. And I'd been excited to maybe meet her - we skipped it after we saw her. (We were in a hurry, anyhow.) (Dh and I like KP more than the kids, lol.)
