Our 2nd Trip to Disney! Did it Measure Up? (w/pics) **THE END**

Hee, hee - love the pics with the pink Power Ranger! Sorry, no Power Rangers in our house - I banned them after ds started imitating them a bit too much. So, they didn't get any attention from us, either.

Btw, did you see Kim Possible? We were the absolute LEAST impressed with how they did her as a face character, of all the ones we saw. And I'd been excited to maybe meet her - we skipped it after we saw her. (We were in a hurry, anyhow.) (Dh and I like KP more than the kids, lol.)

Yeah, my kids didn't watch Power Rangers until Sully was a lot older (I USE to be really strict about TV). I just think the show is so stupid :sad2: The kids don't really watch them anymore, but Owen likes meeting most of the characters.

We walked by Kim Possible and the Ron guy (can never remember his name), but no one wanted to get out and meet them.

How great that they got so much interaction with the Power Rangers! DS wants to meet them but when it comes down to it he gets scared. Maybe he will do it this time. Who knows!:confused3

So, what happened when he stuck his hand in the dog's nose? Does it do something? The playground was so packed when we went, we didn't get to do much of anything besides chase DS through holes way too small for us! I bonked my head quite a few times!:lmao:

He sniffs and then blows air out at you. In reality, he'll do it even if you don't stick your hand in there, but I had read that you needed to put your hand in so we did. It's cute.

Going early in the day definitely made for a less crowded play area! There was hardly anyone in there when we went the first time.

I was looking through my pictures and realized I forgot to post this one when I was showing pictures from the Magic Kingdom on our first night.

I was taking a picture of Main Street and at the moment I snapped the picture, I realized Chuck was coming back :rotfl:

Can you spot him? ;)

Up Next...Day 3 - Part 2

Hi! I saw your post on MnMrMustard's TR and followed your link over here to your TR. It will take me a little while to catch up, I just returned from WDW a week and a half ago where I parked across from MnMrMustard at MK and we ran into each other:laughing:
It really is time consuming reading all these great TR's and trying to write my own but I LOVE it! It's like going on vacation to WDW every day!
Just wanted to say hi, I'm going to go read some more of your TR now:goodvibes

Oh no!! Another TR to add to my ever growing list!! :scared1:

Just kidding ;)

:welcome: Glad to have you along. And I agree. Reading the TR's and PTR's helps to keep the magic alive. And even though I just returned from Disney on Sunday, I get jealous of people getting ready to head down there. I'll head over to yours first chance I get :)

yippy i made it this far!!! Glad you guys didn't lose out anything in your extra MK day since it wasn't a 'planed' day! Also my DS asks me all the time... now this time we ARE going to see the Power Rangers RIGHT???? We skiped MGM... sorry DHS last time so he's really looking forward to it... and RnR now that he's finally tall enough!

Hiya! I'm here and have started reading :) Whoohoo for being off-site and having room :D I don't know if we'll do it again next time, but it sure was nice having separate rooms for everyone and a kitchen and all that.

Driving down in ye ole minivan, aye? Well that's the way we did DL, which was a 2-day'er on the way down, but a one day trip back at a screaming fast 11 1/2hrs :thumbsup2

I'll tag-team reading your TR while I get day 3 of mine posted ;)

Tag-team reading/posting is how I live

I need to work on Part 2 of Day 3. I hope to get it up tonight.

ok all caught up. great updates and pics. I am interested in your opinion of Sci-fi. we ate there last week.

I meant to get it up last night, but my internet went down and didn't come back until this morning :sad2: Going to work on it now.

After we finished up on the Great Movie Ride, it was time to head over to the Sci-Fi. I was both excited and nervous about this meal. I was anxious to see what it was like on the inside, but since I hadn't heard such great things about the food, I was hoping we'd be pleasantly surprised.

Here are the boys before heading in:

IMG_2981.jpg

We had just sat down to wait when we were called up. We did end up getting one car :woohoo: Sully and Owen sat up front.

IMG_2985.jpg

(Owen decided he wanted to make some weird face :confused3 )

Chuck sat alone in the middle (originally he was going to sit there with Connor, but Connor decided he wanted to sit in the back with me).

The theming of this restaurant is cool. No doubt about it. The boys were mesmerized watching the screen and we had no issues with the two of them sitting alone together. I enjoyed looking around at the "stars". I overheard one CM (not ours) talking to a group in a car and it seemed they were looking for stuff (perhaps hidden Mickeys?).

So, here's what we ordered (Are you ready for some food porn?). Sully got a burger, fries, and fruit salad (which I didn't know until later was extra).

IMG_2990.jpg

Owen got the pizza and fruit salad.

IMG_2991.jpg

Connor didn't want anything so he just mooched off of me and had some of the fruit salad.

Chuck and I decided to splurge on shakes and then split a burger. I'm glad we did that as I was plenty full at the end. They were nice enough to split the meal in the back before bringing it out (from reading the Dis, I figured they'd do that).

I had the cookies n cream shake and Chuck had plain vanilla. Both very good.

IMG_2988.jpg

Connor also "helped" me with my shake

Here's my half of the burger and fries:

IMG_2989.jpg

I thought the burger and fries were great! Very tasty.

We really enjoyed our meal here and I'd like to take my parents back at some point. It was a fun, surpisingly quiet, tasty meal. It was chilly in there, though, but I thought I remembered reading about that. Bring a sweater/jacket! (Mickey Rating System to follow at the end of this post.)

With our bellies full and our bodies re-energized, we head off for the Backlot Tour. This was an attraction that I wasn't very excited about doing as I had read it was boring. But, there was no wait and I figured, what the hay? We only had to wait a few minutes before the tour began and we headed to the water area.

The CM mentioned that because of the cold weather, they were limited in the effects they could do. The girl running the effects was very funny. She obviously loved her job and was bummed that she couldn't do more. They went through the effects twice and sent us on our way. On our way walking out, the girl kept making things go off, like the water canons, etc. The first time it scared us all! :rotfl: It'd be neat to see that part during the warmer months (but I'm not interested enough to actually go during hot weather).

The rest of the tour was interesting, although the highlight was definitely the canyon scene. Very cool. I was the one sitting closest to the inside where one *might* get wet, but I was prepared and moved away and stayed nice and dry.

After we finished with BLT (like that?) the boys started asking to go back to the play area. We agreed. It was much busier in there this time though. We didn't plan to stay long, but at least Sully got a chance to climb through the netting (Owen tried, but got too scared).

On the way out, we decided to stop and let Owen get his face painted. He had seen it earlier and asked to have it done. There were a few people waiting last time so I told him we'd see if there was a line later. Lucky for us, there was no one around.

Sully has always been a kid that did not want anything on his face. Nada. Nothing. So, I asked him if he wanted it done just to be polite, but I knew his answer would be, "Heck no!" Connor didn't want it done either so the two of them sat in the stroller to watch.

Owen chose the Red Ranger. I took pictures of the process:

At one point Sully asked Owen if he could take the paint off when we got to the townhouse. It appears even seeing the paint on someone else's face bothered the boy :rotfl: As you'll see in later pictures, Owen kept the face paint on until bathtime.

Here's Sully watching the process and obviously getting the Heebee Jeebies.

We also ate at 50's Prime Time Cafe later in the trip ;)

With our new Red Ranger in tow, we decided to try out Sounds Dangerous. I walked up to the CM and asked what exactly was scary about the show. He said the only thing that's scary is that you're in complete darkness for 7 minutes. No biggie. Owen is scared of the dark, but I'd be right next to him so I knew he'd be fine.

We all headed in to wait. But, as we started heading into the theater, Connor began to freak out. Not sure what the issue was, but Chuck took him out to wait for us.

The three of us got to our seats and put our headsets on (do they change them or do we all use the same ones over and over again?). The show begins. And goes on for far too long. I nearly fell asleep. I really wasn't impressed with that one. But, I guess the boys liked it.

By this time it was getting close to 3. Maybe more like 2:30 or so. I decided I wanted to grab some popcorn before heading out. The boys had been asking for some icecream and I compromised. It was a bit chilly for icecream (not to mention it's pretty messy) so I bought popcorn instead. I saw they had a souvenir bucket filled with popcorn for only $3.75! I thought that was a great deal :cool1: I mean, most souvenirs and food in the parks are not what I would call cheap. But, this was a steal in my mind, especially since there was only a dollar difference between the popcorn in the bucket to the popcorn without.

We parked in a lovely spot and just enjoyed our surroundings.

People were beginning to line up for the parade, which was our cue that it was time to make our exit. We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to find Windsor Hills and let the boys check out the cool playground they had before check in at 4 p.m.

We had no problems finding the shortcut through Sherberth Road, although it was definitely a bit more confusing the first time. The rest of the week was smooth sailing.

We got to the "resort" and it took just a minute to get checked in at the gate. For the rest of the week we merely had to show our pass and they opened the doors for us.

We drove over to the playground and let the kids play.

Around 3:40 I was too anxious to wait any longer so we rounded up the boys to head to the townhouse. Connor didn't want to leave. He was giving Chuck a hard time about getting in the van. We should have realized there was something up.

As Chuck lifted Connor into his car seat, he pulled his hand away and what do you think he found? Well, it wasn't gold folks, although I guess you could say it was hidden treasure.

I need to explain something before I go on (those that are squeamish about bodily functions might want to skip past this part). You all have read about Connor's toilet issues. I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not, but Connor takes Miralax every day to help keep him regular. Well, during his last doctor visit, they wanted me to increase his Miralax intake after they did an x-ray and found he had some stool building up again. The great thing about Miralax is that it keeps him regular. The bad thing about Miralax? It makes his BM's loose. And with the increase in Miralax? It makes them VERY runny. This wouldn't be such a problem if he went on the toilet. But, runny poop and pull ups do not make a great combo.

So, Chuck now has poop on his hand and we realize Connor has poop coming out the top of his pull up. And there's also poop on his carseat since we sat him there before we realized what was going on.

We attemped to do a clean up as best we could before heading to the townhouse. I used a bunch of wipes and put a clean pull up on him. I was really hoping it wouldn't be an issue to get into the townhouse early since I had a very strong need to wash my hands!!

Great updates. We really enjoyed Sci-Fi as well, though we went about 2:30 and just had shakes and onion rings. I liked that is was so quiet. It almost seemed restful. Can't wait to see what the townhouse is like. Off site is a bit tempting. So much space and so little money:goodvibes

Well, I'm finally caught up:thumbsup2
I really enjoyed your PTR and am really enjoying your TR:goodvibes

We have stayed at SOG too, it was nice and roomy. That's funny about the crocs, I didn't like them at all ~ until I bought my son a pair and he said how comfy they were. All I wore was Teva's and Birkenstocks. Well, I bought a pair just to wear around the house because I work at home and needed something comfy. I LOVE them!!! They are so comfy! I had gotten the navy blue color. Well, I had to buy another pair at Disney World a couple of weeks ago:laughing: I got the black and red mickey ones:wizard: I also bought a MK castle jibbitz for each one but lost one on TT:sad2: Nara, Trevon and I all got a pair of mickey crocs that day and I love them:lovestruc
That's really cool you guys won the dream lanyards your first visit.

Sounds like you trip started out great. Nice smooth fun drive, no problems there. Fun evening at MK, with the exception of the "end of the world" scare ~ that was too funny:rotfl: Sometimes it can get bad and it's scary, esp. if there is mention of tornadoes and such.
Your hotel room is NICE! Very spacious and pretty. The beds look so comfy!

I can't wait to hear about your next day:goodvibes
