Our 2nd Trip to Disney! Did it Measure Up? (w/pics) **THE END**

Oh wow!! I have my calendar set to remind me to place my grocery order while you are going to be at WDW. How funny!

Last time I ordered way too much. This time I'm sticking to ordering cold items that I won't be able to just pack and bring with me. Things like cereal or washing detergent, I'm bringing with us.

If we had more room in the van, I'd bring along all of the non-perishables. But, since space is an issue, I'm buying bulky things as well through Garden Grocer.

It started to really hit me tonight how quickly our trip is coming! I tend to not get excited about something until it gets closer just because I can't handle the anticipation!

Hurry to get your dog to the vet. If it has not had a kennel cough shot, they need to be given 30 days before the dog can be boarded. Call you vet asap to found out.

Hi

Hope you don't mind a new visitor!!! I love the countdown calendar I want to make one but I am still too far out we still have over 100 days. your trip plans sound great and I love the poem.

Hi carissaanboys,

I hope you enjoy your holiday we are leaving today:cool1: not looking forward to the long flight, at least you can understand:sad2:

We arrive back in Sydney on the 26th Jan, same day as your holiday will be over:sad2:

Any way just wanted to check in before we go to wish you and your family a wonderful trip.

Enjoy:yay:

Have a wonderful time!! I can completely understand your lack of excitement over the long flight. I wouldn't mind doing it without kids, though.

Can't wait to hear all about it :)

* Josie the kitten :cat: made it to the vets yesterday and received all of her shots!

* The Countdown Calendar is in full swing and bringing with it lots of fun and excitement! :cool1:

* I still need to speak with my husband about which bags we should use to pack. :hyper2:

* We all got a little nervous when we heard how cold it's been in Orlando the past few days!! :cold: :scared1:

* I am having a battle within myself about whether or not to purchase any new clothing (Disney related of course! There's actually a Disney Store outlet getting ready to open at our local mall, but it's not opened yet.) for our trip. I think the frugal part of me is currently winning.

* I need to purchase food items and 2 tiaras princess: (which I think I will pick up today at the mall).

So, folks, that's where I stand at the moment. I feel like I'm in that limbo stage before a trip. Pretty much everything is completed, but it's a bit too early to really pack and get ready.

I haven't felt focused on the trip since we had all of the holidays and then I was working on our home and trying to take advantage of my final week without classes. My class starts on Monday so I need to take a look and see how much work I can complete before we leave on our trip :surfweb: . Thankfully, the townhouse we're staying in has free wi-fi internet, so getting online and checking into my classes will be a cinch. :thumbsup2

Am I forgetting anything?! :confused3

*Edited*

Yup! I sure was forgetting something! I still need to make 2 shirts (remember the ones with the spiral Mickey heads?) for our trip! I was also just reading a PTR ( hi Liz) and it reminded me to see if dh can pick up some Mickey heads at Home Depot tomorrow when he takes the boys for their workshop.

Up Next...Uh Oh! What's Missing?

I'm having the same battle. I think my frugal side is winning too, but that is mostly because I don't want to go all the way to Columbia mall to the Disney store. :rotfl: We're getting so close! I can hardly wait!

I've realized that my PTR has been missing a little joie de vie lately. It wasn't until I was getting caught up on Blueyed Girl's PTR :worship: that I realized what that missing bit was. What is it, you ask? Why, pictures, of course! :cheer2:

So, I give this PTR some of what it has been lacking... :tink:

I did end up making a trip to the mall today and purchased two tiaras (for myself and my stepmother, a.k.a. Memere). I think $10.50 each for a flimsy piece of plastic is a bit much, but it's worth it to look like a princess princess: at the Pirate and Princess Party, right? As an FYI for anyone that might be looking for tiaras, I went to Claire's, Etc. and they had both child sized and adult sized tiaras. I guess our mall has two Claire stores because I ended up buying some earrings at another one. I believe that one had tiaras as well.

Now for the boys/men. I dug through my sons' closet and scrounged up the following items. I doubt my youngest will wear anything at the party  . If we separate the pirate pirate: hat and the handkerchief/braids out, that would provide two outfits. So, I think we're good for the guys.

This is DS7's from our trip in March so I'm sure he'll want to wear this.

I'm thinking my dad (a.k.a. Pepere) will wear this one.

DS5 and DH can fight over these two, or we can splurge and pick something up when we arrive.

Ok. So, P & P Party accessories are complete :cool1: . Now on to a few other goodies I found while scrounging in MY own closet today.

I knew I had purchased a bunch of cheap rain ponchos at Target a while back (I think I have about 10 of them).

But, I'd forgotten about this item! :woohoo:

I'm not sure if the townhouse will already have some, although I seriously doubt it, but it doesn't take up much space anyway. The boys also have a camoflauge one in their room (they have an Army theme) that I might bring along as well.

So, there you have it. I spiced up my PTR a little bit for you all. Wasn't that exciting?! :yay:

Up Next...9 Days and Counting!!

Less than 2 weeks!! I'm so excited for you!!! :teeth:

The tiaras are so pretty! And the pirate gear looks great. You guys are all set for the party! pirate: princess:

I'm finally starting to get excited now! Only 9 days left until departure day :cool1: I really need to start packing!!!

I talked to dh about our luggage. He thinks we should still go with the rolling duffel bags we have and just not put the support bars up so that they're more flexible. He's the master packer so I'll go with his opinion. Seriously, whenever we go somewhere and I'm having a difficult time re-packing the bags, I let him do it. He has the patience to manuever things just so to fit. Me? I'd rather just cram everything in as quickly as I can. Thank goodness one of us has the special talent for packing.

I still haven't made the shirts for dh and myself. I'm starting to think they may not get done. And the thought really doesn't bother me. Maybe this weekend I'll get a burst of energy and work on them (if I can get dh to make me one more template).

I've purchased a few of the food items that we'll be bringing along (on sale! :yay: ), but I'll need to make one final run next week.

Today I want to start going through everyone's clothes and pick out the Disney shirts that we already have and put them in the bags. I also want to get the items that I'm worried I'll forget, such as the new Disney book the kids received for Christmas and the glow in the dark necklaces I bought almost 2 years ago (brought them with us last trip, but forgot to use them all).

I had a moment of panic the other day because I started thinking about the Hoop Dee Doo and tickets. I couldn't remember what they told me about picking them up. But, I think we just get them the evening of the dinner? Does anyone know where exactly? I can go search through threads, but figured I'd ask the experts ;)

I started to get a bit worried about my parents being able to go on the trip. My step-grandfather (Memere's dad) is not doing well and they've been told he basically has only weeks instead of months to live. I wasn't sure my stepmother would still want to go on the trip. But, from what she's said, he's improved a bit right now and they still intend to go. I think it'll be good for her to get away from reality for a while (she said something to that effect as well). Her parents are in their 80's and their health has been deteriorating over the years. My stepmother does a lot for them and I know it's very hard on her, both physically and emotionally. Anyway, things are looking good on that front (as long as the weather holds out!).

We did our Disney Countdown Calendar a few minutes ago and the question today was, "What is the scariest attraction?"

DS7 said it was Expedition Everest (which none of us have ever been on).

DS5 picked Goofy's Barnstormer (which he HAS been on). He's not big on thrill rides, to say the least ;)

I asked DS7 about the rides he's been on (he's been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Test Track, and Splash Mountain) and he said none of those were scary. HE'S my thrill seeker!

My pick was Tower of Terror, although I've never been on it (and don't plan to! :scared1: )

I'll have to ask DH tonight what his pick is. DS3 really wouldn't have a clue about this question. I'm a little worried because he hasn't even wanted to go on the rides at the mall lately (like the little ride on helicopter). Hopefully things will be different at Disney or else we'll be doing a lot of swapping out!

It's almost time!! It's almost time!! :)

Since you are staying off property, I belive you pick them up at the window of HDMR. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get there, and know what time your ADR is for.Read day one of my trip report. :lmao: :lmao:
