Our 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip

We are so excited to be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with our best friends (Shelley has been there...but not HS or AK, and Tom has never been). We will be there September 1 - 9 and they will be there September 1 - 7. We have our rooms booked at the CSR (us on the bounceback dining plan, them purchasing the dining plan but hoping for free dining), with 9 day Magic My Way Hopper Passes. We made all of our ADR's this past Tuesday and got everything we wanted on the days we wanted and within 10 minutes of the time we wanted. We will go to Fulton's one night out of pocket for our special anniversary dinner. They don't even think I am totally off my rocker as I've already sent them two itineraries!
Have a wonderul time!!

Have a wonderful anniversary trip!!

Thanks...it's getting closer. 4 weeks (28 days) from today. About this time in 28 days, we will be an hour out of Orlando on the plane from Chicago. We got our paperwork so I can now put on the new luggage tags to my sparkling new Mickey luggage that my youngest son bought me for my 50th birthday last year. DH and oldest DS are off to Vegas on Wednesday for a week for business, and I will start rewriting for the 20th time a packing list, putting some of his clothes to the side that he isn't taking to Vegas (so he doesn't spill on any more of his good t-shirts! :lmao: ) and keep reading the Dis to keep me going until those 28 days pass.

Down to 24 days to go (not counting today). DH and oldest son are in Vegas--my DH has a trade show and oldest son went to help set up and write orders (he sent me a text message the first night and said: pool, hot tub and beer--what a great combination :rotfl2: Oh, to be 22 again). I got the rental car down another $80 so we are down to $276 when we started at over $600. I took a mental health day yesterday (I just needed to sleep and I did...slept until 10:30 a.m.). I spent the rest of the day taking our youngest to Office Max to get some stuff for when he goes back to Univ. of Dubuque in two weeks, then we went grocery shopping. I went to see my dad in the hospital after that. And then once I got home I made two batches of Chocolate Chip Cookies to send with three of the youngest boy's former teammates as they head off to college for the first time (long story short...once the wrestling season got into conference, regionals, sectionals, etc., and they were a week apart, I would make cookies for those days; I couldn't do it during the regular season as they often wrestled three or four days a week and they would never keep weight if I made the cookies then; anyway, they say I make the best cookies and even though my son has been in college two years, I still make the cookies for the team as their are still a few boys left that my son was teammates with). I also washed some clothes that I haven't worn that were hanging in the closet and put them in an empty drawer in case I decide to take them with. Still debating on whether to ship a box off to the CSR in advance of our trip so we won't have so much luggage--especially being that we'll be gone two weeks).

Well, with the $600 DH took to Vegas with him for miscellaneous expenses (taxis, drinks) and gambling, he came home with a little over $400--so that gets to go to Disney with us! Hooray--we can use part of it as deposit if they offer bounceback and the other part for more Christmas ornaments for the tree. Just 17 days, 22 hours and 20 minutes until we leave. The suitcases are out, clothes that we haven't worn but are taking with us are washed and put away, souvenir list made, itinerary finalized (I think), instructions printed out for oldest son who will be at home while we are gone of things to do--AND NOT TO FORGET TO FEED THE DOG. Now just waiting for those last 17 days to go by.

Well, we leave in 5 days and 19 hours for our 25th anniversary trip. It didn't look like we were going to make it. For those who didn't read under the resort board thread, my dad has been ill and in and out of hospital/nursing homes since February. Last week, he took a turn for the worse and was rushed back to the hospital on Wednesday. He died on Friday afternoon. I thought about cancelling just becasue I didn't have the enthusiasm I had when I had started planning this special trip. But my DH and I talked about it at length the other night, and my dad's last wish was that we go on this trip and celebrate the marriage that Mark and I have had and to cherish every moment together. Therefore, we will honor Dad's last wishes, and we will depart on Monday, September 1 for our trip. We will celebrate our 25 years of marriage and we will celebrate my Dad who loved me and my husband and all of our family and we will remember the times he came with us to Disney to see the joy on his grandsons faces. I don't know if I'll have time for an update before we leave, but I will write a full trip report after we get back.
