We had discussed going to a water park today but we both needed a break. Since we were doing E-night that night we decided to take it easy. We ate breakfast and Lauren went for a swim while I read a book. After a couple of hours we decided to head to Downtown Disney. Lauren wanted to go to Once Upon a Toy and I wanted to go to World of Disney. This was the only time I was disappointed in Disney Transportation. As we were walking through the main building I saw the DTD bus pulling away. We waited for 30 minutes before I finally gave up and caught a cab. A $12.00 cab fare later and we were at DTD. Spent about an hour and a half going through both the stores we wanted to visit and made our purchases. We stopped and got a smoothie before heading to the bust stop. Disney Transportation redeemed itself. We waited about 3 minutes before our bus showed up.
Back at the resort the dogs and peacockephant were again waiting in the window for us. We decided to take a nap to prepare for our upcoming late night. We slept for a couple of hours and went to the food court and grabbed some food and went back to our room to eat. After eating we decided to head on over to MK. After a 5-minute bus wait we were whisked off for e-night and got to MK at 6:00. We went to City Hall and got our wristbands and headed into the park to see how the lines were. Lauren wanted to ride the Indy cars so we headed there first. I tried to make a detour at the TTA but was vetoed. We waited in line 20 minutes before we were zipping around the track at the speed of light. Okay, not that fast but at least we got a breeze from it. Next we headed to the Tea Cups. After a 10 minute wait we were on. I didnt want to ride this but told Lauren I would if she promised not to spin it too fast because I dont do well on spinning rides. She agreed. Yeah, right, like I should trust her. I had to take control of the vehicle a couple of times. As soon as we started she got that devilish little look she gets when she is about to get impish on me. I survived and we moved on to Dumbo.
After a 10-minute wait we were flying high in our elephant. We went up, we went down, we never stayed in the same position. Great fun! I wanted to ride the Jungle Cruise so we headed that way. As we passed by the Haunted Mansion we saw a 5-minute wait sign. This is June, right? We walked right into the stretching room. Lauren was iffy about this ride, which is why I wanted to ride it during the day. I knew it would be even creepier at night. I told her everything that was going to happen during the ride but she still rode with her head behind my back for most of the ride. About halfway through I heard a chanting that I hadnt heard about in any ride description. Then I realized that it was Lauren chanting Not gonna do this tonight! Not gonna do this tonight! After the ride she told me at least 10 times throughout the evening that she was not going to do HM again. So you know, I didnt force her on the ride. She wanted to face her fears again but it didnt work out this time. I loved it and her being scared made it even more fun for me. Kind of a repayment for the Tea Cup ride.
We headed over to Jungle Cruise and walked right on to a waiting boat. Our captain was okay and probably would have been better if it werent for the Obnoxious setting across from us. Every joke the captain made they had some rude comment. I felt bad for him and laughed louder than I should have at his corny jokes. We wanted to ride again but the ride closed for some reason. They probably had to drag the river for the body of one of the Obnoxious family who may have been thrown overboard.
It was time to head over to the castle and find a seat for Spectromagic. We arrived promptly at 8:00 as we had been told by our DIS friends and found a piece of curb facing the castle. We chatted with our neighbors and watched a rousing game of Duck, Duck, Goose while we waited. Then it dawned on me that I had not had any Mickey Bars yet that day. I went over and bought ice cream, popcorn, and a Coke and parked myself for the parade. Spectromagic was wonderful! When Peter Pan came he asked us if we wanted to play a game. He told us that Captain Hook was coming and that when he did we should open and close our arms like a mouth and shout Tick Tock. Of course, Peter, anything you say. Along came Captain Hook on his float and we started Ticking and Tocking at him. Well, this did not set very well with the good captain! He was furious. He started stomping and shaking his hook at us. I think he would have jumped right off the float to get us if we didnt look so menacing. We showed him a thing or two! When Cinderella came by Lauren was thrilled that she winked for her. As Cinderella and Prince Charming got in front of the castle he grabbed her hand and pointed at the castle. Cindy just sighed. It was so romantic.
After the parade it was time for Wishes. Tip! Dont set or stand directly in front of the castle. You cant see the fireworks. That was okay with us because we had seen them the night before. We really just wanted to see Tink fly. After she did her thing and Lauren was sufficiently awed (when she grows up this will be her job) we headed over to Tomorrowland to begin e-night. First up was Buzz Lightyear. We fared a little better this time. Then, it was onto Space Mountain. We went right and loved it. We would try to come back later to try the left side. After Space Mountain we decided to have another go at the Evil Emperor Zurg. We were neck and neck around 6000 when Lauren found a 20,000 target and ran off and left me. Oh, well, Ill let her have that one.
Next we headed over to Philharmagic. Earlier in the day by the pool I was talking to a woman who had gone to e-night on Wednesday. She said that the only long lines were for Pooh and Peter Pan because those were the only rides that the young kids could ride. The lines werent too long yet so we decided to go ahead since we paid for them. We just kind of rolled our eyes at each other as we were got into our honey pots. Well, this turned out to be my favorite ride. I was laughing like a 10-year-old as we bounced along with Tigger! I love the Pooh ride!
On to Peter Pan. We had about a 10-minute wait, our longest of the evening. My apologies to all you Peter Pan fans out there but this ride did nothing for Lauren or me. It is not something I would stand in a long line for.
Oh, well, off to other things. We walked into Mickeys Philharmagic and got our 3-D glasses. We loved this. The smells were great and the water felt great.
We headed over to the other mountains. We got to Haunted Mansion and Lauren took my hand and told me to keep on walking. We rode Splash first and enjoyed it a lot. Then we headed over to Big Thunder and enjoyed it a lot. Then back to Splash, then back to Thunder. And once around again. Can you tell we really enjoyed these rides? After the third ride on each it was quarter to one so we decided to go ahead and head out. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Pluto were standing around the castle signing autographs but we had already met all of them so we just kept going. Caught the bus and were in bed and asleep by 1:30 a.m. with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door.
I would like to take a moment to say that e-night is so worth the $12.50 it cost to get in. The lines were minimal or non-existent. There were times when we were walking and couldnt see another soul. It was like having MK all to ourselves. Several food places were still open. The only gift shops I saw that were open were the ones that the rides dump you in. If you have the opportunity to take advantage of an e-ride night, do it. You wont regret it.
