Hello all...I am more of a lurker on the Dis, but I need help! DH and I purchased BLT in Oct. and are trying to plan our 1st trip home. (I love saying that! ;) ) We are looking at January 2012. Our UY is March and when we purchased we were given the 2010 points and banked them at that time. Can we still use them for our trip in Jan. 2012 or will we need to travel sooner to take advantage of them?

Is it crazy to plan for check-in on New Years Day (which will be a Sunday)? We don't plan on visiting parks that day at all. If we book a 2 bedroom (my mom may be travelling with us) can we change that into a 1 bedroom without re-booking the whole reservation if my mom needs to cancel?

Sorry for all of the questions!

Your banked 2010 points are now valid for travel during your 2011 UY. For March, this would run through February 29th, 2012 and therefore, those points would be good for Jan. 2012 travel.

The holidays, including New Years, are busy so I don't think that really matters. If you book a 2 bedroom and then want to change to a 1 bedroom, it is a cancel and rebook so there must be availability for you to do that. They won't just drop it to a 1 bedroom.

Typically if you are in doubt about whether you need a 2 bedroom--I'd book a 1 bedroom and a studio. That way you can drop the studio if it's not needed.

Having said that, if the studio was booked with banked points, those points will disappear at the end of your 2011 use year. In addition with January travel and a March use year, even if you use 2011 points, if you cancel you have passed your banking window and the points would still need to be used by the end of the 2011 use year.
