I don't have bad acne, but I have this one zit on my forehead, and it doesn't have a head or anything, it's just one bump. And it hurts really really bad:headache:. Are they're any home-remedy's or over the counter stuff that might work, it's been just like that for about a week. Is my anti-acne make-up helping or hindering it??? Thanks :sunny:

Don't ask me, I'm 35 and still going through puberty! :o

I get these from time to time, my dermatologist says that these type of bumps are hormonal. Not much you can do. Good luck! :teeth:

There is a "bump" that never comes to a head because it's reabsorbed by the body. It's deeper in the tissue than most "pimples" and usually larger and more painful. Once upon a time I knew what this was called (when I worked for a dermatologist) but can't recall. Best thing is keep your hands off it and keep your face clean. I can NEVER leave things like that alone myself! :hyper:

Sorry, forgot to add: If your anti-acne med is over the counter, it "could" add to your problem. Not all meds work on every type acne for every person. "Some" can actually clog pores on certain individuals. ::yes::

OMG, I have ones of those right now, too. You bend over & it actually hurts your head. They suck!

So make-up is bad for it?

If you ice it a bit you will help with the swelling and pain. Other than that, leave it be. Good luck. I do;t have acne, but every once and a while I get one of those kind. Ouch. :(

I had one of those stupid things right in the middle of my nose last week. :o I used a hot washcloth on and off during the day and it seemed to help. I've never had major skin problems but every now and then I get something like that and I hate it.

Numb it with ice. In other words, freeze it.

Another remedy I've heard about, but never used is to put toothpaste on it at night. The pasty kind, not the gel kind.

Good luck!

I never had acne till I reached my 40's. It really sucks but at least it didn't happen when I was a teenager and would have been dreadfully embarassed. It just seems like one of God's little jokes that I would now have acne and wrinkles. Woo hoo.

Good luck with it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I get these occasionally and it is always around my cycle time. They are painful but usually run their course in about a week or so.

Has anyone else's skin gotten oilier as they have gotten older? Sure seems like mine has.

Hey twinkles,

I am old enough to be your Mom, and I have had one going just below the corner of my mouth on the side of my chin! :(
In my case, I do not have acne, but, once in a great while one of my pores do get clogged up. Sometimes is can be deep within the skin where it will take it some time to clear up, either from the inside, or the outside.

Don't know what to do, except keep your skin very clean. In my case, my skin can be a little sensitive and dry. So I would always avoid any cleansers or medications that would end up making the situation worse. Things like strong cleansers, scrubbing pads, etc.... For me they make things worse!

I use a completely oil-free base make-up that I love that never causes these... L'oreal Mattique. It TRULY is oil free. ( I have tried others that felt like crisco on my hands and face!!!) Some may say 'oil-free', or acne medicated... I would take those words with a grain of salt. On a budget, this really is a 'clean' make-up.

Hope it gets better soon!

Makeup is the worst!!! Sorry, I know during breakouts is when I felt I needed it MOST! There is a make-up called "Liqui-Matt" that used to be available via special order in pharmacies that was for acne prone skin, or if you visit a dermatologist he can prescribe cosmetics far less likely to add to the problem.

One trick some people use if a bump is terribly red and swollen.... dab a bit of Preparation H (yes, for hemorrhoids!) on the bump and the ingredients in it will help relieve a bit of the redness and swelling. You won't want to use it just before going out as it smells awful and is greasy. Apply it for a while when you're home alone and at bedtime. Can't guarantee the results but some people say it helps.

I know the feeling...I currently have one on the end of my nose that hurrrrrts but all you can see is redness...no head or bump.

then you'll be :cool1:

Yeah, I usually do that, but it has no white head yet, and I don't want a hole (have one of those already:( ) But don't worry, I'm not one of those "DON'T POP IT DON'T POP IT" people. I have a friend with little white heads all over her face and she won't pop them! I always want to do it for her. Anyway, that's the end of my little speech:D

do you have any camphor? That will usually dry them out! If you can stand the smell.
