OTU points and paid membership program

Am I reading this correctly - DH can purchase MMB himself, at $99.00, he could then also purchase his own 24 OTU points?

Yes that is correct.
However have in mind that each membership (UY) can only get a total of 24 OTUP per UY.
If you both buy MMB you need more than 1 membership to apply the additional 24 OTUP to.

Ok I am trying to understand this MMB so thank you for any help.

I have a Sept UY. I want to book a May 2026 reservation at the 7 month mark, which will be starting Oct 1. I need 13 points total to use on two back to back reservations ( first I need 4 points, the second I need 9).

Can I purchase all 13 points( using MMB Bogo of 7 points) in October, then turn around and book both 2026 reservations?

Or does a reservation need to be made to use in 2025? If so, then I need to make a dummy reservation for 13 points, then cancel, and those points will be good for a 2026 reservation?

I will have to purchase an even 7 points to Bogo up to my needed 13, thus essentially losing one point?

OTUP points purchased w/ MMB are good through the end of the UY they are purchased on or calendar year?
I have 4 contracts under 1 membership. Do I have to depleted of points on all contracts or just one in order to purchase OTUP?

They are good until the end of the UY in which you bought them in. You can get the MMB OTUP until the end of this year 12/31/25 - unless they extend the program.

You don’t need to use all of your points to get the OTUP.

The rules for OTU are the same. You just need to purchase during 2025 to take advantage of the MMB benefit.

The trip can take place in 2026 as long as it’s 7 months or less from the date in 2025 you are purchasing them.

If it was made 7 months or less, is st least 31 days or more so you avoid holding, and the trip is in the same UY as you buy the points.

You do have to make a fake reservation with them and then cancel it…which is why you want to be at least 31 days out…but once do, and cancel, you can modify to reallocate.

I recommend trying to make that dummy reservation with one convenient 24 points for one night. Otherwise the different contracts along with your other real contracts are confusing to keep track of when you do cancel and want to modify/monitor.
For example the only location I searched for worth 24 points on a Saturday night was The Cabins at Fort Wilderness .

. Another thing that will confuse you the way they appear in your dashboard . It looked like my home resort ( onlyBLT home in reality) listed GCV and the Boardwalk because that is where DVC found availability in their system to swap . It is coming from a pool of points that guests are not using.
And I guess this is how guest services can keep track of them too.

I feel like this is going to screw availability and hope they do not decide to continue this MMB perk next year.,

I’m also trying to figure out if it was a good for me or Disney.
I only purchased MMB for $99 to get those “free points” to use and then booked a random night that I probably don’t really need to be making.
Also availability if I want to modify is tight before my use year ends . I guess July 4 , 2026 at BLT at 11 month window … just be aware of your planning and preferences within your Use Year to really use those one time points.
Oh wait That won’t work cause OTU is only a 7 month booking window!
Haha see how confusing it can be.
I guess I will keep that random night in October for the Cabins Halloween decorations after all…Now I need to book a golf cart too as I plan to save money ! Helps to be a local I guess

How is the program gonna impact availability? All members including resale are allowed up to 24 OTUP per UY.

With the program we get them cheaper that’s all. Personally I always get the OTUP.

Agreed. The program has no effect on OTUP other than the cost is lowered. You still only can use them at the 7 month window with no home resort priority.

As far as rooms that are exactly 24 points there are many to choose from including RIV, VGF, PVB & SSR.

If PP couldn’t find something for exactly 24 points they could always use them as intended to for a reservation that requires more points like using some of your points for a 2 bedroom + the 24 OTUP to complete the reservation. If a dummy reservation is being made this shouldn’t matter as you would be canceling and getting the points back anyway.
