I was thinking about this and wanted to see what others thought! Do other timeshare owners get as excited as DVC owners? Do they ever congregate on a place like this and talk about their timeshare? Or is itthe magic of Disney? I know I am very excited about buying points at SSR and I know it is partly because it is my first big purchase on my own, but I it is also the prospect of having vacations for the next 50 yrs!!

What do ya'll think? Do owners of other timeshares get this excited? Do they take pride in their ownership and welcome new buyers like ya'll do?

on the tug board - Marriott owners do and lately HGVC has a couple of sites.

Vistana had their own message boards for the longest time but went defunct about a year ago. I enjoyed visiting those boards while it lasted.

WorldMark has a message board for owners where there's plenty of enthusiam.

There are many Yahoo! Groups (email loops) for owners of various timeshares... Marriott, Fairfield, South African resorts, etc. These are somewhat different from forums like this one but serve a similar function.

The Fairfield group I read has ~2,000 members and 50-100 messages posted per day. Lots of enthusiastic discussion, especially about new resorts opening soon or recently or people's favorites. Lately there's been excited talk of the new online reservation system. Several members spent a half-day recently doing testing of the system in Orlando. It's expected to be available by the end of April.

The internet makes it so much easier to learn to make the most of a timeshare ownership. It's great for locating other excited owners too! :)

Makes you wonder if the Internet isn't a huge part of Disney making the DVC work. With OKW opening in the early 90's when most people were just learning that '.' was a dot not a period, there is at least some superficial correlation.
