Other people using your bathroom

Does this bother other people as much as it does me?
I hate it!
DH has a landscaping business that we run from our home. They meet here in the morning and are here sometimes during the day too. The guys (usually just 1 or 2) insist on asking to use my bathroom. I really don't like it. :( A few trips through my house and the floors are filthy and the bathroom looks and smells like a gas station restroom. The final straw was last week when I picked dirty (poopy) toilet paper up off the floor beside the trash can. I told DH that he HAS to tell them to start stopping somewhere else if they have to go. This is the kids bathroom. YUCK. Last Saturday DH had to come in and close all our bedroom doors so some guy wouldn't see us in our beds on his way down the hallway. It was Saturday and I wanted to sleep in!

I've had repair men ask too and I think it's rude. I know it's against their rules too.

Thanks for the gripe. DH gets mad at ME for complaining! You know, since I'm home all day with nothing to do I can just clean up after them!

Ok that tp concept is DISGUSTING....that just wouldn't happen. If they could act like grown ups and use the toilets correctly and not leave a mess, fine. Otherwise they could go outside with the other animals. Ugh. I can't STAND a dirty bathroom....

It's fine with me, as long as they use it decently. The carpet cleaner used ours the other day and he left the seat up! Even DH never leaves the seat up!

:crazy2: that would be the end of it for me right there!!!That is just SOOOO gross!!! Make your DH clean up after them, then he might change his mind about letting them use your bathroom. ;)

....if "nature" calls whataya gonna do??? If ya gotta go,ya gotta go!! I could never say no to someone who had to "go". That's cruel!!

Do you have a powder room that they could use? My DH used to work for a company out of the owner's home- the office was in the basement and there was a powder room, and the boss made it clear that the rest of the house was off-limits unless they were invited.
If you don't, then I would have DH ask them nicely but firmly to make sure that all 'needs' are taken care of beofer they come to work, as your home is not a public facility. And if he won't do that, make him clean the bathroom the next time the guys mess it up!

I cannot stand it either!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's much easier now though since we have moved and our garage has a bathroom!!! Still have to keep it clean, but noone has to troop through my house to use the restroom unless they are invited!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I have BIG issues with this. When I had roommates, it seemed none of their male guests knew how to aim at the big hole filled with water. Now I live alone, but a couple of weeks ago, the landlord came by to check out a leak in the bathroom while I was at work. I would never have known he'd been there if I hadn't seen the roll of toilet paper. While I was sitting there, I suddenly noticed that the end was all mangled in a way I'd never rip it. Not only that, the plunger had been moved. I can't bear to think of what that means! I immediately cleaned the entire toilet, inside and out.

The worst part is, he lives right next door! He couldn't have waited that long?

I agree totally, but on one occasion, I wish they would have asked to use the bathroom.

We had a fence put in and I was home when they put it in as I needed to control the dog while they put it up (fence was for him).....well, the fence goes about 5 feet into the wooded back area of our yard. DH went back in there while retreiving the dogs toys and noticed....well, lets just call it a "present"......and it wasnt the dogs because he didnt have a supply of Dunkin Donuts napkins for "clean-up"!

DH was livid! He talked to the owner of the co (small local co) and told him about it, explaining that he thought he should know what his guys were up to. I mean come on. A) in an emergent situation, you could use my bathroom....or B), go back up the hill 1/2 mile to the Dunkin where you bought the coffee and napkins and use their bathroom.....Not to mention how many of my neighbors could have seen that go on! (the woods are not that thick!)

Too funny that you posted this because I was just complaining about this very thing! We have these guys working on our deck and one day one of them asks my husband if he can use the bathroom which of course he said yes. Well lets just say he was in there a loong time and didn't exactly leave it smelling like roses. Ok, what are you going to do, emergencies happen.

Then he asks again, so I say ok. Then we are going out and he asks if I can leave the door open in case he has to go again! I said I couldn't do that but there is a shopping plaza down the road with a pizza shop, and other places with public bathrooms. He tells me, get this, that the pepperoni roll he had for lunch is just running right through him! TMI!!!

Then the next week when he came to work he asks again to use the bathroom. Sheesh! Does he do this at everyone's house he works at? I mean I always say yes, but I am a little grossed out since it is always for #2 (as my kids say!) and I always feel the need to totally scrub the bathroom after he's done. (A bit of a germ phobe here)

My husband used to do landscaping and he said he would never ever ask to use a customer's bathroom. He would just drive to the nearest public restroom. I have had many people working at our house and this is the very first that has asked to use the bathroom on a regular basis. SO YES, it does bug me!

I guess that's a price you pay for running a business out of your home. There's wo way I would tell a client, associate or other person related to your DH's business that they can't use the bathroom. But they should be respectful and neat about it.

I couldn't refuse anyone either. One thing I'd be considering though would be how and where to put a toilet for future clients to use. Possibly build doors around a toilet in the utility room, garage or other place large enough to house one. Kind of a glorified porta potty. :teeth:

These aren't clients coming to our office. We provide the service (landscaping). This means the guys come to our house in the morning, load the equipment onto the truck from the garage, then they spend the rest of the day out on the route. Sometimes they stop back at the house for deliveries, tools from the garage, etc. but usually they don't come back until they are returning the truck and equipment and going home.
Oh well.........
