Other low-key character meals?

Well it appears that the 2 character meals that I picked out last time I visited for my Aspergers son are going away (confirmed by several posters by calls to dining reservations) namely Liberty Tree Tavern (1/5/09) dinner and Garden Grill lunch (10/5/08). We were not doing any on our August visit except maybe a Cape May Cafe breakfast on our last day but wanted to do a couple next June when we are going with the extended family if I can get a GV.

Any suggestions, he is a little more socially confident but is still bothered by loud overlapping noised and excessive over the top social activities.

Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch is cute! There is a parade (kids eating can join in), the characters come around to the tables, the food is decent, the juice is great, tables seem close to me.

We go to LTT each year. We will miss it - a lot! I was not aware that it was closing for dinner. (sob, sob)

Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at Ohana is fun and has the advantage of having the food served to your table, but I wouldn't call it low-key. The parade can get very boisterous and the overall noise level is quite loud. Maybe if you had the latest ADR time and requested a table away from the main action it could work out. We had a late breakfast at Crystal Palace last June (10:30). By the time we were seated, the dining room was only half full and they didn't even do the parade, so it was a fairly calm meal. The characters were also very friendly and gentle. Tigger was a little silly, but fun.

It has been several years since we have been to Cape May Cafe for the character breakfast, but i would say that it was low key. Garden Grill was too.

LTT is closing??? We loved it there!

The Lilo & Stitch breakfast was fun and the Cape May one was fun also (and was probably the most low-key of all).

We really enjoy the breakfast at 1900 Park Faire in the Grand Floridian. It's a mixture of Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh characters. No social activities, just the characters stopping by your table. We've never found this one to be terribly busy either, as a bonus.

Thanks for the heads up, I called and rescheduled our Garden Grill in Dec for an evening time. I asked the woman if they were plannng on telling me! She said she has no idea what is up!!

My son has asd. We went to Ohana's in september. We had reservations for around 10 am. It was pretty low key. There is a parade but it wasnt boisterous at all. It was pretty laid back and he really enjoyed it. He especially liked when Pluto tried to eat his head as he put it (more like kiss him on top of his head)

He really wants to go again when we go in january.

The alice in wonderland and mary poppins breakfast was quiet and laid back but my son freaked when the mad hatter came to the table. He hid everytime he even heard his voice (which was frequently)
He couldnt even eat he was so scared. But mary poppins told him not to worry and gave him a spoonfull of sugar (had a quiet word to the mad hatter) and he was much better. Luckily it was towards the end of breakfast time and Mary Poppins stayed with him so he wasnt so scared.

I think that GG was definitely low key. If you request a table that faces the outside, you feel like you are the only ones there.

We had Ohana for breakfast at 7:30. It was remarkably quiet and the parade was not loud at all. The kids had noisemakers but they were maracas and not too loud. Also, if you go early, like we did, the first parade is maybe about 45-50 minutes into the meal. We were finished eating and had seen all the characters, we were waiting for the parade. You could see how the parade shapes up and make a speedy exit if it is too much. Also, the parade lasts maybe 3-4 minutes, it is fairly calm.

CRT was pretty cramped and also I think louder than some other places.

1900 Park Fare had the disadvantage of being a buffet. (I hate to try to drag the kids through a buffet.) 1900 was also quite loud. It could have been the tour group of 120 teenage girls that was there at the same time though!

The characters were great at all of the places that we went. If I were only going to pick one meal to do over again, it would be Garden Grill. The food, the quiet, the service, the characters made it perfect for us!
