Other Entertainment Book Hotel Rates?

Thanks for the info Dangermouse
I have one more question I have noticed in searching the boards that some people will only get the rate for a few days of there stay.
we are looking at staying 5 to 7 days will I only get the rate for part of it if they have any?

Amanda

Not necessarily. They only offer the rates when they are not expecting to be overly full. So, you will have a more difficult time getting the ent rate during peak times (holidays, weekends, etc).

The best thing to do is call and check. They will be happy to let you know if all or any of your dates are available at the discounted rate.

We have gotten great e rates at the Holiday Inn on Walnut, a short walk to the park and with free shuttle. no free breakfast though. I like Holiday Inns because they list their entertainment rates online, you can book it without calling the hotel and hassling with a desk person.

Also, some times of year the Disneyland hotels have very good rates for season passholders. You can call, check the season passholder rate for your dates, and if you get a great $89 rate like we did...you can book it and buy your season pass later. And of course, only one person in your party has to buy a season pass, the rest can get regular tickets if it works out cheaper. Check the blackout dates on your pass!

We paid $89 a night for 5 nights with the season pass. Yes, the pass cost me $50 more than a 2 day ticket, but we saved maybe $150 on the hotel?

And, if I happen to hit Disneyland again within a year, I'm in free!

I received a great Entertainment rate at the Hyatt Orange County - we will be there the last week of August, and got a 1 bedroom suite for $119.00 per night (6 nights). They offered good rates on all room categories, and these rates completely blew all other rates away (AAA, Expedia, Orbitz, and Hyatt.com). I know this property is not as inexpensive as some others, but for a nice hotel...I'll take it!
Although the Hyatt is not necessarily walking distance (especially with MY two boys!), they do have a dedicated, complimentary shuttle to DL.
Parking is expensive here, though, as are meals, but I don't see us eating here anyway!

So, did you make use of this shuttle to go to-and-from the park? If so, can you elaborate on its convenience/timing? We'll be going in the off-season, so I don't really see us coming back to the hotel during the day; we'll likely close down the park, go to dinner at Mimi's, and then go back to the hotel. Do you think the Hyatt's shuttle will be operating an hour or so after park close?

Good questions about the shuttle - that was one of my concerns, also, is that we would be out too late and miss the shuttle!
We actually are going down on the 25th of August, so I will check it all out for you and let you know when we get home (on Labor Day). I think that I read on Expedia that the shuttle starts an hour before the park opens, runs on the half hour, and runs an hour after the park closes. At least we don't need to pay for the shuttle, like you do the ART! Saves a few pennies here and there!

Yep, if that hotel has Entertainment Book discounts. When you buy the book, it comes with a credit-card-sized card with your membership number on it. It is good for a calendar year (November 1 - October 31, I believe). So, as long as you have a card that is valid for the timeframe you'll be staying at the hotel, you can get the Entertainment Book rate. You might want to have that card handy when you checkin/checkout of the hotel, in case they ask for it. Apparently not all do.
