OT - www.angelfoodministries.com

We do this at our church. It's a really good deal and the food is pretty good. Some is name brand and some isn't. We usually only order every other month because there is so much that we can't use it all up in a month (but there's only 3 in our family). I was leery of the fruits and vegetables, but they've been really fresh, except for 1 time. I believe it was oranges that arrived rotten, but they sent a free replacement item the next month (I think it was a pie).

I haven't used them myself because they are not available where I live. However, I have friends in other states that have gotten food though them and they have been happy with the quality of the food. What they offer is very high-fat meat intensive, so my friends find that they have to supplement with their own fresh fruits and veggies. It's also a large amount of food, so they are able to save quite a bit from week to week.

They do include some religious materials in the box, but you can just toss that out if it's not of interest to you. They don't push the religious stuff, it's just some reading material.

I thought it was just okay. I do better clipping coupons and stockpiling then I do with the Angel Food, and I get the food we want. There was nothing really wrong with it, it just didn't work with what we needed.

I've heard very good things, but I've never personally worked with it. Most people my age are into more missional organizations. However, in these economic times, I think any organization like this is a God-send.

We tried them this past month since we were interested in the quantity/quality of the food. Normally, we shop at various food places - Walmart, Food Lion, Farm Fresh, etc and normally get our meats from the local butcher. For our family of 3, the quantity is enough to last about a month, but then again we didn't eat their food every day. I would consider the quality to be lower than what you would find at Walmart (store brand). My biggest complaint is the meat quality. Very high in fat and not very tasty. Almost every piece of meat was wrapped in what they considered "bacon"... which is closer to a strip of pure fat than anything else.

For us, we will not use the ministry again. I would rather clip coupons to pocket the savings.
