DH just sprung the news that he got us tickets to see Wicked (at the Orpheum in San Francisco) for my birthday! Can't wait!

And by the way...is there a new feature on the boards to send a 'Happy Birthday from the DIS boards' note? I just received one and cannot remember getting one in years past.

I'm seeing Wicked, I'm seeing Wicked....

Daneenm, :bday:

You will love WICKED !!!! My DBf took me to see it....it was a total surprise too. :lovestruc

Have a wonderful evening.

In my DDs' dance recital this weekend - there is a musical theatre class doing a number from Wicked (What Is This Feeling?). And both of my DDs love it! I'm wondering if I should try to take them to see Wicked when it's in Phila next January. Is it appropriate for the 6-8 yr old range?

Thanks Susan!

We will go at the end of July, so a bit of a wait. But, we will also be spending the night that the St. Francis Hotel which will make it a really nice get-away weekend. Can't Wait!

I loved Wicked. Have fun. You'll be humming the songs all week after the show.

I love the soundtrack, sooo much fun to lisen to in the car with the windows down belting at the top of my lungs...DadadaDA Defying Gravity

Sorry tmi:laughing:

Oh my goodness! I just checked the company for San Francisco and it looks like you're getting Patty Duke as Madame Morrible. I bet she's great!

Have fun! Defy gravity!

AWESOME! I just drove to Indianapolis to see it on Thursday, it is INCREDIBLE!!! Have a great time.

We are also from Northern California and will be attending Wicked at the Orpheum in mid July.

We can't wait to see it.

I think it would be great for that age group. I saw it twice in Los Angeles. Check the theatre for what ages they allow. There were quite a few young kids when we went.

I got into it after hearing the song for Bob's tribute last month.

Now, the "girls" in my family are doing a 10 hour road trip to see Wicked in San Antonio in two weeks. I am so excited. I even read the book.

Enjoy to those who are waiting to go.

Thanks to the team for introducing me to Wicked.

Just saw the show last night. Wow...fan-freakin-tastic! LOVED it!

I thought I would enjoy it but I was not sure how I would think the story wove together with the Wizard of Oz. Could not believe how well the story flowed. Even DH, who is much more particular about his musicals, loved it.

Elphaba was played by the understudy, as I was disappointed to see that in the program, somehow thinking she would be less than great. She was phenomenal! Patty Duke played Madame Morrible and was really fun to watch. She got big applause when she first came on stage.

I cannot recommend this show enough. I'd see it many more times if I could afford it.

Do you know about rush tickets? Call the theater for details. You can show up a couple hours before the show and get into a drawing for a chance at discounted tickets for the first couple rows. I want to say they are around $25. We did this in Chicago and my DD got front and center. It was amazing.

I do, if only we lived closer and my children were older. Right now, it takes quite a lot of arranging to allow us to go.

Will probably go again in the winter. We think tickets would be a great 13th birthday gift for DD - she is dying to go.

Thanks for the suggestion!

The show in San Antonio was amazing. One of the group looked at us all at the end and said, "WOW! ... Just Wow!"

The even better part is that New Orleans is getting our Broadway Series back. A few days after we came back from San Antonio to see Wicked, they announced that it was in the upcoming season. Mom and I have already bought our season tickets. We will be buying a few more individual seats for my son and niece to join us for Wicked.:cool1::woohoo:
