OT: Which car seat after outgrowing the Cosco Scenera?

We use the Cosco Scenera for my almost 4 year old daughter in our second car. (We use a Britax blvd in the main car) She is reaching the upper weight limit for the Scenera, so its time to purchase a new seat. I have no clue what I should be buying next. All I know is that I would prefer something that still uses a 5 point harness because she is a wiggler and I wouldn't feel safe with her using the car's own seatbelt yet. Any suggestions for a second seat?

We have 2 Britax Frontiers and they are awesome!

My almost 8.5 year old still uses the Frontier as a booster, and my 4 year old still uses the harness.

Love these seats! They are rock solid and attach into the car, so not your typical move around booster seat.

The Britax Frontier can go to 125 lbs and 57", so good usage for the money!

I can't say enough good things about this seat, but being from Canada, we are a bit limited with seats (much better selection than used to have), but I know there are a few other seats that we don't have around here, that someone else might also highly recommend.

Good luck, Tiger :)

cheepest to most expensive... Evenflo Maestro, Graco Nautilus and Britax Frontier 85. I love our Frontier's, we use them in our main vehicle. Nautilus is my second favorite and I've never used the Evenflo seat. :thumbsup2

We just got DD (just turned 4:goodvibes) a Britax Frontier too! I love this seat:goodvibes She was in a Britax Marathon until now. She hadnt outgrown the Marathon, but I was wanting to go ahead and get the booster and get lots of use out of it. I love Britax. We have a Cosco Scenara as an extra seat in dh's truck. I hate that seat and wish the Marathon fit in the truck as our second seat, but his truck is just too small.

DS4 had a Scenera as his 2nd/travel carseat. He has outgrown it, so I asked the DIS experts what to get for his next seat. The Evenflo Maestro was recommended to me.

I bought one this weekend and I really like it. It was super-easy to install and DS seems comfortable in it. The only thing I don't like is that when he falls asleep, his head falls forward. I think this seat must have a more upright back than our Marathon does because DS's head does not flop forward when he sleeps in the Marathon.

I like that the Maestro isn't too big or heavy since we will be bringing it to WDW this November. I didn't want to lug a big, heavy seat through the airport.

The Graco Nautilis or the Britax Frontier would be my top choices. Both have a high weight limit and are very comfortable and sturdy for the wear and tear a 4 plus year old can put on them.

We went with the Nautilus at that point. It was between that and the Frontier at the time of our decision, and finances made our decision. Alas, DS is a tall kid in the torso (shouldn't have surprised us, but it did), and he's now out of the 5 point harness earlier than I expected (I'd been using weight as a guide for the future in my head).

We also had a Cosco Scenera in my mom's car that we also used for travel. We were looking for a inexpensive, lightweight seat with the 5 point harness as well. Here is what we purchased:

Certainly not as nice as our other car seats - we have a Graco Nautilus in DH's car and a Britax Marathon (almost ready to outgrow) in my car but it is just what we were looking for for the need we had.

Thanks for all the opinions! I think I am going to go ahead and get the Britax Frontier with Side Impact Protection. I am going to put that in our main car and move the Britax Blvd. into our 2nd car where the Scenera currently is.
Now most importantly, where can I get a deal on the Frontier with Side Impact Protection?

You do realize that if your child has outgrown the scerena in weight then your child has already outgrown the harness in the other seat too. I just recently learned this but the seat you just bought is only weighted to 40lb use with the harness. So if you plan on harnessing it really isnt a good option. I did the same thing thinking it had a higher weight for my 2 girls. I will end up buying 2 new chairs for them at the end of the yr. They are just under the 40lb mark right now. I think I will be getting 2 more Nautilus chairs for the other van too.

As a pp said, the Cosco Scenera and the Cosco High Back Booster Combination seat that you linked are BOTH outgrown (the harness part) at 40lbs or when the top of the child's shoulders reach the top of the shell. Unless you are using this seat ONLY as a belt positioning booster with the seatbelt.

You might want to consider returning it in favor of an Evenflo Maestro, or if it's within your budget, a Graco Nautilus.
