OT - Where else do you travel with kids?

Arizona
Gatlinburg, TN
Kings Island in Ohio
We get season passes to Six Flags Great America (in IL)
The boys cant wait to go on another cruise too.

Rocking Horse Ranch - Upstate, NY - in addition to all the other places mentioned here. We all had a blast.

We just take the kids to places we're interested in.

New York-- beginning as infants the kids have been to Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum, Museum of the City of New York, Museum of Natural History, Children's Museum of the Arts, Children's Museum of Manhattan, Empire State Bldg, Staten Island Ferry, Ellis Island, Yankee and Met games, Top of the Rock, Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, United Nations

Also have visited England (2x), Ireland, Boston (many), New Hampshire (2x), Acadia National Park (2x), New York State (Cooperstown, Fingerlakes, Buffalo, Niagara Falls), Baltimore & Washington DC (many), SF Bay Area (many), S California (2x).

All these trips were great. We never try to do too much in one day and just take care to mix kid-pleasers with more adult-oriented activities.

We go to Washington DC area every other year to visit DH's friends and family...and lots of sightseeing.

I would love to visit Gatlinburg with the kids. I've been there once as a teenager and it was so much fun and so beautiful!

DH is dying to visit Boston....he wants to go without the kids, though! ;)

My DH owns a Landscape Company and we don't get to go anywhere, So on 3 day weekends we take off Camping @ Normandy Farms MA about 2 miles from Gillette Stadem home of the New England Patriots:worship:

Rocking Horse Ranch - Upstate, NY - in addition to all the other places mentioned here. We all had a blast.

My husband and I went to Rocking Horse Ranch in the summer of 1993 ... the year before we got married. We had a great time! We're thinking of going back this summer (with the kids this time).

We go to Rehobeth Beach DE each year for a quiet few days of beach rides and shopping. Then on to Dover DE for a Nascar weekend. DD 5 loves Tony Stewart.

I have 3 kids (7, 4 and 2). We have always travelled with them. We are in Boston but take them to England on a regular basis, NH is great, Gotta love Storyland, Clarks and just hanging out up there. We've been to VT skiing. Hubby from NY so go to East Hampton every summer and various trips to NYC area. I am happy to go anywhere we can drive to but have kids will fly!

We love to go the Great Smoky Mountains...usually we have stayed in Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Bryson City-all in NC. We love it and the kids do too! We always get a big cabin on the river (our parents come too since they live so far away) and we spend a week or two sitting out on the porch listening to the water, kids playing, fishing, tubing, hiking (a little shopping thrown in!) I'm ready to go again!

Since many of you are talking about the Tri State area, I thought Id throw in that Storybook Land in Southern NJ is a lot of fun for little ones. I go with my nieces, ages 4 and 3 now, every Christmas because they decorate and it is a lot of fun. They also have a Trick or Treating event near Halloween, where you can Trick or Treat to all of the characters (snow white, sleeping beauty, three little bigs, etc-- of course not the disney version...which sometimes children have a hard time understanding) . Its very rarely been PACKED, most ride lines are only about 5 or 10 minutes. Just thought Id add my two cents!

We are from Florida, so to us the best possible vacations would be theme parks in the Orlando area or a cruise. It's a lot of fun for the little ones. We have also been to Brazil, and I would really like to go to Ireland in the future.

You have to take the kids to Knoebels in Elysburg, Pa...All kids just love it.. check out their website www.knoebels.com The prices are so cheap for rides and food..Have fun..:yay:

My husband is a HUGE Pats fan - o whole entirefamily is (ah hello , our DS#2 isnames "BRADY":thumbsup2 ) I think DH and my dad would camp out in the Gillette Stadium parking lot if they could!?:rotfl:

We know the major places: Disneyworld, DisneyLand, Sea World, Universal....but what are some of the other great places to travel with PreSchoolers? I found Seasame Place in Pensylvania and New Hampshire has Story Land, Santa's Village and Clarks.

What other places are good for say a long weekend?????

Awww! We love Story Land!! However its right down the road here from us, so its more of a day thing for us than anything.

We like to head deeper into the mounatins for a weeknd and camp, hike to waterfalls (Emerald Pool) and things like that for a quick getaway. I am not a huge fan of camping or what I call "roughing it", so I am good in a tent fora night or two and thats about it. We also like to go to the Boston area for a weekend and do a Red Sox/Patriots games, the aquarium, Freedom Trail and thinsg like that. DH and my 2 older boys are history buffs and love National Treasure -so it was fun to see those things after the movie came out (Old North Church), or for a longer weekend we are big fans of Myrtle Beach! A 14+ hr ride, so it has to be 5+days to make it worth while...

DH is big into stock car racing and is crew chief of a race car team (modified) so they/we are forever striking off to all different parts of New England every weekend,so it tends to keep us moving and him busy. Sometimes fun, sometimes not so fun!

We like going to Cedarpoint in Sandusky Ohio. It is about 8 hours from us, a good spot if we have 4 days.

How about places in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio......... I see a lot of suggestions for places in the NE/NW but the heartland is being left out!!:sad1:

Tosha can you share more info on the Dells. Is 5 days enough? Also where did you camp? We just bought a new pop up camper and can't wait to take it out this summer.

I need to quit reading this thread because everytime I decide where we should go this summer it changes because someone brings up another good idea. I need to start a vacation binder like I do for WDW trips. :)

For a quick weekend trip we like to go to Frankenmueth MI. It has a HUGE Christmas place called Bronners. We also like the Port Clinton area in OH. We have also been to Traverse City MI for my BIL wedding and it was really nice. I wish we would have had more time there to explore the area.
