OT: What were your kid's obsessions?

My twins were obsessed with The Wiggles when they were about 2 until about 3 1/2....thank goodness that is over with!

My youngest is obssesed with playing ATV Off Road Fury on the Playstation. He will be 4 next month, but he is really good at the game. However, he wakes up and says "can I play the game?" It is so bad that he has to earn time during the day to play it, or else he would be on it all day.

One of my twins right now is obsessed with NASCAR. That's probably our fault, we are race fans, but he "makes races" in our living room...I don't enjoy that! :lmao:

My DS6 has had a different obsession every year

Age 1 - Elmo
Age 2 - Toy Story/Dinosaurs
Age 3 - Peter Pan :tinker:
Age 4 - Transformers (the originals $$$)
Age 5 - Pirates POTC
Currently into all things Star Wars :darth:

It's funny too because I find myself going through the phases with him and have a new appreciation for all of the above items. Especially Transformers. I can hold my own with any Transformer Collector out there.:rotfl:

So true! I can sing the theme song to Ben 10 and can name all the aliens that Ben changes into.

When DS12 was 2, it was Batman. We used his blankie as a cape and we had to call him Batman - but when he took the cape off, we had to call him Bruce (for Bruce Wayne).

At 3, it was Star Wars. He went to stay with my sister for a few days and gave all my sisters and my parents Star Wars names. He was Luke of course, and would even introduce himself as Luke Skywalker. It was a little reassuring when the daycare teacher told me that he wasn't the only 3yr old with another identity.

He seemed to outgrow it after that, but it was entertaining while it lasted!

Dogs! She pretended she was one at 2 (Sparky was her name) around 3 it was Dalmatians...everything had to be Dalmatians! We even had a pony with spots at her 6th Birthday party! Where she dressed as a dalmatian and it was the theme. Obviously we stayed at the ASMo for 3 years in a row!!! Had to be in the dalmatian bldg. Funny thing about this, she was terrifed of real dogs (almost got bit by one). Finally she decided she wanted one and she wanted a lab (she knew all breeds by then and had read every book in the library). So at 9 she went on Petfinders, found a lab rescue and the dog she wanted. This dog was very sick with kennel cough when we met her and was just lying there, DD fell in love, what a calm dog! When we went to pick her up 3 weeks later she was feeling more like herself and acting more like a dog! DD had second thoughts...long story short...we have had her for 3 years now and got #2 lab a year ago! DD now loves all dogs and is no longer afraid of them!
Those were the days! Now at 12, she seems obsessed with Naruto with I can not tolerate!

My oldest never really had an obsession. He would jump from one thing to another very quickly. However, as he as gotten older he loves to read, sci-fi, fantasy, etc. He also recently has gotten into role playing games.

My youngest is my obsessive one. He was obsessed with dinosaurs for about 8 years. He would growl at people before he could talk. He loved all the land before time series. I truly believe we owned (recently started to give them away) every single dinosaur on the market. Currently he is obsessed with anything Godzilla. He loves the movies and the action figures. This has been going on for almost a year. Do you know how stinking hard it is to find Godzilla stuff. I have been told by employees at toy stores that Godzilla comes and goes in phases. Apparently he is out of style at the moment.

My ds6 Is obsessed with brat dolls (so he likes slutty women:rotfl: ) he has about 10.

My 10 year old was OBSESSED with Toy Story from about 2 to 4.

He moved on to Rescue Heroes, and then Star Wars. He still likes Star Wars very much. Yu Gi Oh pops up now and then as well.

My now 6 year old really liked his Little People zoo animals- in particular the giraffe and zebra- he would carry those around all over the place when he was 2 or so. He also liked Toy Story, but he pretty much just would like what big brother liked. So, since big brother liked Star Wars so much, little brother followed. He esp has collected the Galactic Heroes over the last several years.

My 2.5 year old currently LOVES the Disney Princesses! Gee, wonder who influenced that! It's fun buying the girl stuff after so many years of boy stuff. She pretty much loves just girly, pink fru-fru things!

Hi AQW I just wanted to reply to your message and say that I think it's cool your 2yo likes Daddy's stethoscope, is your husband (or you) a doctor? I wanted to be a doctor when i finished school but after doing nursing for a few months, I changed my mind, as I couldn't handle some of the jobs (such as toileting) although it was very rewarding! :thumbsup2 i can relate about your daughter's obsession with the color purple, i loved purple when i was little too and as for Dorothy the Dinosaur, i admit I rather enjoy The Wiggles (even at nearly 25 with no kids) :rotfl: i've loved them since i was young and more or less grew up with them. Anyway, take care!

I guess I have really focused kids!

DD Power Rangers then
Harry Potter from 2nd gr to now (and she is 18)

DS Star Wars since 2 and he is almost 12.

DD12 (almost 13) - Taylor Lautner :rotfl2:
DS10 - Football & watching corney YouTube videos popcorn::

my sister thinks that parents make their kids obsess about materical idems or charters. lol its her first kid she is just finding out that, it not the parents its the kids and great marketing

scoobydoo from 2 yr till 16 and counting, we have bins of her collection in the attic lol

Haha... this is how you know I have a weirdo kid. It's the Alphabet and numbers 1-20. She's saying the alphabet and numbers whenever she feels like it, and then if she sees a certain letter or number she just calls it out. Oh and we have to go over her letters every day, lol. I don't know if it's necessarily an "obsession" but it's definitely her thing right now.

I have an atypical 6 year old DD. Current obsessions:
TV/Movies
1. Star Wars Clone Wars
2. Dirty Jobs
3. Mythbusters
4. New Alice in Wonderland
5. Avatar
6. Batman cartoons (too young for the movies)
Toys
4. Art Supplies
5. Anything she can build
Activities
5. Dance (she takes 3 hours a week and she is begging for more)
Music
1. Taylor Swift
2. Zac Brown Band (Sensored by me)

She has Interesting taste for the most part. She has loved Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters since about age 3. She is definitely not a ponies and rainbows type of girl! She was fascinated through the entire alomst 3 hours of Avatar, and told me directly after that the most important thing they said was "You cannot always just take what you want."

At age 1, DD became obsessed with 2 things- 1) a little $1.00 stuffed Santa from the dollar store I bought at the counter as an afterthought when we were visiting the ILs for Thanksgiving; and 2) a Cinderella dress from the Disney store. Santa went everywhere with us for a year. Santa is in our 4th of July pictures. I bought a couple of spares because I figured he would disintegrate. She left hers at Grandma's one day so I pulled out the other one. No fooling her- I told her it was a substitute Santa until we got hers back from Grandma. Okay with her, but then were were 2 --- Santa and "tute" Santa. They both went everywhere. One day, she just quit carrying him. The Cinderella dress was worn every day for a full year, until it was stained and tattered and she could no longer fit into it. Our rule was, she could wear it at home, but she had to wear real clothes out in public. She ONLY wore real clothes when we were going somewhere pretty much the entire year, the rest of the time it was that dress.

At 2 yrs 10 months, she made her 1st WDW trip. We had lunch at Akershus and she immediately went Princess crazy. Ever since that 1st trip our house has been all Disney all the time. She alternates between Princesses, Peter Pan, and Aladdin.

ds7-nearly-8 is completely obsessed wit the game Spectrobes, both for the Wii and the DS. Think Pokemon or Digimon. Roam around, collect and battle strange looking critters. Beyond the videogame realm he's still big into Star Wars.

I think all kids get obsessed with stuff as they grow.

My DS was Thomas the Tank (I am keeping all the tracks and cars since they were so expensive!), then moved on to Pokemon (I still have the electronic game that I got him cause I thought it was so cool!), then Yu-Gi-Oh and now it's video games.

My DD was and still is at 10 years old, obsessed with Tinkerbell and stuffed animals. She also loves Polly Pocket but I'm seeing her starting to outgrow those. It's exciting and :sad2: to see your youngest outgrowing toys.

DD8/almost 9's list:

1-3 - Rolie Polie Olie & Bob the Builder
2-5 - Dora...anything & everything Dora
5-current - Littlest Pet Shops....OMG she has soooo many and still wants more!

Music wise, she is obsessed with the Police and Bob Marley. :hippie: I love it!! Course, it came from me :rotfl2: For a while there her favorite song was Another One Bites the Dust from Queen.
