OT: Vacation ideas other than WDW?

if you want to do a cruise and the kids want to see historical things what about a cruise on the mississippi? I Love Myrtle Beach, (North Myrtle is the best). But if you aren't beach people its kind of silly to go to the beach. The outer banks is beachy but has some historical sites to see and if you are lucky maybe you could rent a vacation home with a pool! (Yay for no Sand in the bathing suit.)

Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite and Grand Canyon National Parks are all truly amazing and there are other activities and attractions close to all these areas.
