It's been many years since I've been to the zoo and we are planning a trip for this spring. I'm wondering if anyone can advise if there are any restrictions on bringing water or snacks into the zoo? We plan on purchasing our meals there, but like to travel with a few bottles of water and granola bars and such. Any information or tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:goodvibes

We are annual members and pack lunches and snacks almost every visit. They don't like you eating in the pool area and are against straws but it has never been enforced. There are loads of picnic tables everywhere.
So food is allowed in the zoo :)
Hope that helps!

We had a family trip in the fall to the zoo and took granola bars and juice boxes. Next time we'll pack an entire lunch. We were shocked to see all the picnic areas that were set up throughout the zoo. And a tip, if your going with children make sure to leave time to do the kids area at the front gates. We didn't know about it but did a quick visit before the zoo closed and it was amazing lots of areas for kids to burn off extra energy!

Thanks so much for the info. I'm so happy to hear there are lots of areas to picnic - we'll likely pack a bit more than snacks. We're really looking forward to our trip. Thanks again for your kindness and response, it's greatly appreciated!:goodvibes

Tip: Pack a cloth or disposable tablecloth as the tables can be a little dirty. My dd took a tablecloth with her when she went in the fall and was the envy of all the people at the other tables nearby. She and her friend packed a full lunch, sandwiches, drinks and dessert that they carried around in two knapsacks.

Thanks so much for the tip about the tablecloth - very clever - I'd be one of those people looking on with envy and wishing I'd have thought of that! Thanks to you - we'll be sure to pack one! Thanks so very, very much!

My Mom and I have annual passes and always take lunch, snacks, a thermos of hot chocolate (in the winter) is a good treat!

You must visit the polar bear cub. He is adorable. The penguins are fun too and if they are swimming they are especially cute, be sure to visit them at the underwater viewing. Visit the elephants (they are leaving soon).

It can be a long day if you want to see all the animals. Check out the zoo website and plan your day http://torontozoo.com/ExploreTheZoo/

How many are in your party? Are there kids - how old?

Maybe we should have a DISmeet at the zoo :)

Thank YOU for the great ideas; you can always count on the folks on the Disboards to be helpful! It will be myself, husband and 14-year-old son. A meet sounds great, I'll keep an eye on your other thread and see if we might be able to attend - just depends on scheduling. Thanks again for your assistance, really appreciate it!:thumbsup2
