OT: Toronto Plane Crash Attitude

Hello All ~ My ds is fasinated about the Air France crash at Pearson yesterday. So we watched a bit of the news coverage this morning. A Canadian TV station used a news headline: AIRPORT MIRACLE. CNN's news headline was: DOOMED AIR FRANCE CRASH. hhhhmmmmm...Miracle vs. Doomed. I'll take the MIRACLE anyday! Blessings ~ S

Yes but that is ty[ical of the US they always want to show the doom and gloom from any and every situation no matter how good the actual outcome is this is why the US lives in a state of constant fear because all teh news down there shows how terrible things are. They also play things up to show noting but the bad parts never the good things that happen.

The CNN headline says that "The U.S are sending their Inspectors' to investigate!!! Here they come to save the day!! How would we ever survive without them??!!??

I think it is amazing how they all got off the plane in 90 seconds. I keep reading different stories...one say 309 passengers, and another says 297. So where did those other 12 people go? The Air france employees need a raise!

I find this post ironic in that last nite my husband and I were watching the National. I told him I love Canadian news because it seems to be more good news stories. The positive reporting on the Air France crash, the appointing of the new Governor General and a very nice story on the last Canadian war hero who won the Victoria Cross. Gotta love it!

Just this past week CBC's News World International (NWI) ceased broadcasting. We really appreciated the emphasis on a more global outlook than what is commonly available here in the States. We joke around this house that NWI was like 'Radio Free America"
Yes, I much prefer 'miracle'! Hoping the prompt actions of the crew are recognized & rewarded.

That said, I was a little appalled watching the news coverage and getting 15 minutes of soundbites of inconvenienced passengers who weren't in the crash whining about having to phone to reschedule, etc. Hello, people! there are people hurt, and you're whining because you have to make a phone call? Jinkies!

Our news may not be as doom and gloom (I only have Michael Moore's word for it, when we're on vacation we don't watch the news), but it certainly seems to have a high complainage factor.

Walt's dad, Elias, was born in Bluevale, Ontario. Cool eh? S

Yep they are from up near Goderich we went to the Home Town Parade that Disney had in Goderich and they also had other info about how Goderich played a part in the layout of the Magic Kingdom. The centre of the town of Goderich is done like a wagon wheel and all the roads go out from teh centre and Walt designed teh MK in the same fashion you start from a central hub and move out to the different lands within the park.

After 5 days in Disney, we headed over to Clearwater for some beach time! So Tuesday, I left DH and DD on the beach for a bit more sun and fun. I turned on the TV and WOW!! It was a bit scary to see and to know that 2 days later, we'd be landing at Pearson at about 4pm. Miracle? Luck! I tell you though - the one thing that kept running through my mind was terrorists. Never heard it on the news but we kept thinking it! Anyway, we landed ( and braked ) safely yesterday. We saw the plane off the 401 on our way back home last night.Luck!
