OT - The Time has come to say goodbye

This is the end - aka my leaving post

Just wanted to say goodbye and thank you for the time we've spent together.

I've learnt so much about Disney from you the fans and I hope that I've helped people out a bit along the way in return.

There's a lot of good people on here and I'm going to avoid doing an individual shout out so I don't forget anyone

As anywhere there are a few odd ones and I'm sure the feeling is mutual

And after that I'll tell you a bit why I'm going

- Here in France after 5 years in a company you can take a year off - a gap year for adults if you like - and then go back to your old position, wait 5 years and do it all again

That's what we are doing and as we are starting this Saturday with 6 weeks in France (Loire Valley and then Cajarc) where I know the wifi will be patchy I'm writing this now.
Then off to the UK for 3 weeks and at the end of May we will leave from London and head off to Mexico,Belize and Costa Rica for 5 months
This brings us to Nov and after a short stop in Europe we will be off to Asia - Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Java until end of March
We decided that now was the right time to go as you never know what the future might bring and life shouldn't be full of what ifs and could have beens.

Again thank you all for everything and I'll see you on the other side.

It will seem very odd to not see you on this board. You will leave a very large hole. Your advice has always been so concise and helpful. You were a huge help to myself and my family on our first visit last year and now we will be heading back on Monday afyrt help from yourself.

And thank you for your help in providing the low cost call rate numbers for France which I have taken advantage of to book a house in the Languedoc region in the Summer.

Have a wonderful year - I am sure it will be a massive adventure that you will remeber forever. And thank you for all you have done on here.

Enjoy your year off work! My workplace has 4/5. Similar to your situation. We work four years and get one year off. But we have to apply so that our paychecks will be adjusted and we get paid for 5 years with 4 years' salary. I have been thinking about that to take advantage of low travel seasons. Maybe after DD graduates from high school.

Thanks for your invaluable tips and advice! You have been a god-send with loads of info! We will miss you dearly!

Gosh Carrie what a fantastic trip you have planned there. Starting in the wonderful Loire valley.

And what a long trip report you'll have to write when you get back home

Have you actually planned the whole trip or are you just heading for those places and seeing what happens/where you end up etc

I am so very grateful for all the help and advice and well wishes you've given me and the board definitely wont be the same without you. I was so very overwhelmed by how helpful you are (patient even! especially with some of my ridiculous questions and panicy posts!) and how many times you've went miles out of your way to help myself and the rest of the guys on this board.

I will miss you here on this board but on the other hand I am very glad that you now will "see the world".
