OT - Thank you

Thanking troops is in no way political.

Personally I don't think telling people to get out and vote is political either as long as you aren't promoting any particular issue or candidate but that is between you and the mods. I'm not a moderator and I'm not Pete so what I think really doesn't matter.

Just don't bring your issue with another thread to a thread thanking people who stand on a wall and keep us safe.

Yes, if you have an issue with your post being closed, I'm sure the moderator will be happy to explain to you in a PM.

Bringing your complaint to this thread while basically calling our troops assassins is the nonsense
I was referring to and goes far beyond political.

Agreed. :thumbsup2

I am not sure where this was promoted in my post. I stated a very direct thank you to the men and women who have lost their lives protecting what I believe in, and I hope many others do who have chosen to live here (and vacation here).

Please keep in mind, it would likely be the collegues of the men and women of these organizations who would come to your country's defense if you were the victim of a natural or unnatural disaster.

How do you interpret the above as a political statement?

In my opinion, you have taken your irritation withe the moderation of the boards and allowed it to negatively influence your ability to comprehend a thank you.

Good post Frank. I always liked this quote.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
-George Orwell

I never take for granted that people like you are out there protecting people like me. :thumbsup2

I'll gladly add my 'thank you'. :flower3:

This thread has steered off topic. As the OP mentioned, this thread was started to show support for American troops.

So it's not okay to ask Canadians to vote (my thread was closed), but it IS okay to promote assassinations? Good to know.

Somehow I don't see a Federal election as nonsense. I was pointing out the inconsistency in the moderators. Celebrating killings is hardly a Disney value.

You are being offensive and that is a violation of the rules.

I'd like to add my thanks to those who serve, and so would Val. :thumbsup2

Of the regulars here that I know of, I'll specifically thank Paul, Kathy's Husband and Don's Brother. It doesn't matter what branch they are in (I've got a soft spot for the Army) and what they do, they are all part of a great organization that helps keep us safe.

As someone was has had both friends and family in the military and who was personally affected by the events of September 11th, I find your reference to our brave men and women (esp Navy Seal Team 6) as assassins personally insulting!!

I am not celebrating Bin Laden's death. Am I glad he's dead? Absolutely. I am more celebrating the fact that with his death, the thousands of lives lost because of him and their families and friends can now find some peace they so desperately need, including myself. That's what should be celebrated!!

So, to all those who have fought bravely for our country (esp as Jeff said, specifically Paul, Kathy's husband, and Don's brother) I say:

THANK YOU!!! :)

I :thumbsup2 on FB, and do it again here.

How true.
I know I sleep peaceably trusting the brave men and woman who protect me. No matter what you were told as a child...there really are monsters in the world.

Thank you to Paul and all who Serve.

I just want to add my thank you, too. I am very appreciative!!

My hubby is 22 year Army Vet (now National Guard f/t) and it's because of people like him, Paul, and others mentioned above that I can sleep easier at night. Thank you all for your service. You mean the world to me, and to many others too!

THANK YOU!!! :thumbsup2

My thanks also to you, anyone with family in the military also makes a sacrifice for the freedoms that we all enjoy!:thumbsup2

Actually despite the politicians trying to take credit for this win (or I'm sure planning to in the future) this was down to the intelligence community and our brave military getting the job done. They coordinated a 10 year global manhunt to apprehend the most wanted man on the planet (and by not only the U.S. but just about the entire world) and bring him to justice.

I prefer this quote to the one mentioned above:

"Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win" - Full Metal Jacket
