OT - Swing sets from Home Depot

We are planning on purchasing a swing set for our children. We saw some at Home Depot this weekend - a Disney brand. The sign said something like choose your set then add lummber. Has anyone purchased one from Home Depot, and if you did, do you pay for the lumber in addition to the kit?

There was an ad for this in Family Fun magazine...I'm also wondering...

I checked these out on the home depot website. It looks like there is a base kit you buy which has some pre-cut lumber and accessories with it. They list that there is additional lumber that would be needed for assembly and then if you change the accessories and features, there may be more as well. You would also need to make sure you have the installation site level and prepped as well.

I haven't looked at it in person, just the website. Hopefully someone else has more information on how easy it is to follow the plan and put it together.

Yes you have to buy the lumbar seperately. DH and I priced these last year and we bought the one at HomeDepot that came with most of the lumbar. I think there was only one or two big support beams that we had to buy seperately. DH was able to put it together with no problem...in fact I was not here and he had both boys running around while he did it! He did need some help with those big beams but that was it.

yes, we did the same thing the PP did. We bought the Disney brand that had most of the lumber included. We had to buy 6 4x8 & 2 4x10 (I believe) The one we got wasn't as easy to put together as the one previously mentioned. It took both of us 2 days to do it...19hrs in total & dh is a wood worker. But, dd loves it.

We have the Disney set (Palasides II) that we put up the beginning of May. The kit came with everything except 4 4x8's and 5 4x10'. It cost about $20 for the extra wood. Everything else was included. It did take 3 women about 10 hours to put up and our kids (and the neighborhood kids) all love it.

This is the same set that we just bought over the weekend. I'm not sure if you wrote the wood meaurements differently or if something changed. Our set requires 9 4x4's. 4 8ft and 5 10ft. Also our wood costs us about 80 bucks I think. We plan to put it tigether this coming weekend. Would you say that it requires 3 people? Dh and I were planning on doing it together, but we'll get another pair of hands if you think we will need them. Also, anything crazy with the instructions we should know about?

Yes - they are 4x4x8's and 4x4x10's. We could have done it with 2 people -- we did actually have both towers up before the 3rd person arrived. The only time we really needed 3 was raising the top bar - it was heavy with the A-frame for the end and the 10' 4x4 going across the top -- 2 held and one bolted it in the tower.

Ok thanks.
