OT - swimmers ear/swimming ear plug

I think my 7 yr old has swimmers ear. Not the end of the world unless you are getting ready to turn 8 and you are having your birthday party at a pool in 3 days

I gave her some Tylenol for the night. I use to get it a lot when I was little and remember how painful it is. If it still hurts in the AM, I will take her to the dr for antibiotic ear drops.

I put some rubbing alcohol in her ear tonight to try and suck out any water that might still be in there. Maybe we will get lucky and be painfree tomorrow. If not, I need to try to find her an ear plug for swimming - who sells them? Target/Walmart??

I can't imagine her sitting out while all her friends swim Yes, I know she will survive if she can't go underwater but would rather avoid it if an ear plug can be found and would work.

Walmart, Target, and Sports Unlimited sell them where I live. We bought some for DD2 but are taking them back. I think at her age she will just fight us putting them in her ear.

The BEST ear plugs ever are from One Step Ahead. They stay in much better than regular ear plugs, and they are softer than others so my 2 year old doesn't fuss as much when I put them in his ears

Anything that a 2 year old won't complain about is gold!!!!!



We have the ear band, but he only wears it when he's playing with his ears. Otherwise, we just order the putty buddies replacements. They even come in a carry pack all for $4.95

My son has tubes in his ears (from constant ear infections) so he can't get water in his ears at all. We've bought ear plugs before but I finally found the ear band at Target the other day. It's from Speedo and it looks exactly like the picture from One Step Ahead. If you live near a Target you should check there.
