OT:Summer Computer camps..?

or video game design camps?
Anyone register your kids for anything like this?
Either here in Canada, or in the US?

Or boys - both 9 - are keen to learn how to design games...

Any suggestions or information/links most appreciated!

I don't remember where you live - in Cape Breton, I think?

Here's some things I know of in Halifax:

Kyber Kids
They used to offer web design, animation and I think video gaming design. I wasn't that thrilled with them, but I've heard really good reviews from others.

Supernova
HIGHLY recommend them. It's run out of DalTech (used to be TUNS) My 6 year old did a summer camp last year and is doing 2 this year. My 13 year old participated in their ITS for Girls program over the winter. I can't say enough about them.

Dal Mini University
You might want to check out all the universities for similar programs. Mount Allison offers some amazing albeit expensive residental camps but I don't know if they match your sons ages/interests.

NSCAD has good programs, but they start at grade nine - something for the future?

My oldest took web design and digital animation a couple of years ago through the CAP program. One was through the library and the other a community centre. It was like pulling teeth to get info about it though.

I don't know anything about this one - I saw it on craigslist. They say they offer summer digital animation camps from 9-15.

We were considering the SuperNova camp - I'll have to call and get some more programming info..

...and places to stay, too.
We're in CB - but a week in the "big city" is ok by us..DH and I could drop the kids at camp, and then go do all the things in HRM that we didn't do as wild and crazy university students

And a side note, if you don't get YESMag for your kids, it really is great www.yesmag.bc.ca

I was at the wavepool today and I picked up a brochure for artech studios They do video game design camps in the right age range in Dartmouth and Bridgewater.

I like the idea of kids doing camps while parents explore

Finding information on the web on this stuff shouldn't be this hard...I think I've tried every combination/thesaurus of the words computer video game design summer camps - and my goodness, the things that have come up on Google

I was going to start calling rec depts, and thought, I should just post this on the DIS...someone will help!
