We just stayed at the new Marriott Residence Inn for 6 nights last week using points, it was awesome! When I was there I heard someone at the front desk looking for a rate, it was $179 for a 1-br and $249 for a 2-br (they didn't ask for a studio rate).
Every suite has a full kitchen, there is a Hannaford and Shaw's up the street. We didn't end up buying lunch once!
Hotel has free breakfast (waffle station, eggs, potatoes, sausage, baked goods and breads, cereal, yogurts- even kid themed ones, fruit, 4 types of juice). We ate breakfast at the hotel every day except the last day when we went to Peach's (which was awesome.) Since it was a holiday week they opened up a conference room so there was more seating for families at breakfast.
Monday though Thursday the hotel has something from 6pm to 7:30. Mon-Manager's Greeting (snacks, stuffed peppers, free beer/wine, soda, dessert), Tues- Movie night (snack food, free drinks again), Weds-BBQ (hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, more free drinks), Thurs-Kids Game night (mac and cheese, snacks, cookies, no beer and wine- but soda and water)
Indoor pool was very warm and did get a little busy a few days from 4-6pm, but all the kids were supervised by their parents and very well behaved. Pool is open 8am to 9pm.
For dinner I bought a few gift certificates off Restaurant.com for 80% off. Went to Cafe Noche in Conway center and Shovel Handle Pub in Jackson (a few miles behind Storyland.)
I thought the traffic would be horrible being 4th July week... there was none! Granted we weren't in town on Sat the 3rd and arrived on the 4th and went right into the pool, so not sure how weekend traffic was, but for a holiday week traffic was non-existent Mon-Fri!
