Does anyone remember what colors are in the Sigsta Multicolor striped slipcover for the Ektorp line? Online it looks gray/red/white, I just wondered what it looked like in person.

Any experience with this or the white slipcovers? I need to get cheap furniture fast and I really wanted slipcovered stuff so I could wash it up. BTW I have one dog who does not get on the furniture (much) and two kids who jump all over the furniture. TIA!!!

I don't think I'm going to be able to wait until the new 2010 catalog colors come out. I was thinking I could always buy the white for now and wait until August to see the new colors, of course then, the Sigsta will be discontinued.:confused3

check out bemz.com. They specialize in Ikea slipcovers - they even carry covers for discontinued chairs (yeah! I have Barkby chair that they no longer make)

They have all kinds of solids and patterns to choose from.

I have a white cover for my chair and it gets pretty gungy from the kids - you can't bleach them either so its kind of tricky to get perfectly white again.

Hi!

I am actually sitting on one right now! It has green, pink, a dark red stripe and a yellow/gold stripe inbetween the pink stripes. We also have the white and haven't had a problem getting them clean. I love the fact that we can change out the slipcovers for very little instead of having to buy a new sofa! If you buy the ottoman, the white covers rang up $11 each instead of $39 last weekend!! Can't beat that price!

We have had our sofas/chairs/ottoman for about 4-5 years now with 2 rambunctious (sp?) kids, multiple family gatherings of 20+ people and our dog who absolutely loves them!

Thanks so much! I was hoping it had some green in it. I checked on ebay and a sigsta cover was on there and they listed it as pink/green. I did see the white ottoman covers for $11 online and it seems like I remember another white cover that seemed to be priced really low. I will have to take a look at it again. Now to schedule my shopping trip!!! Thanks again!

Any suggestions on how to wash/dry them?

Instead of waiting for the color of your dreams, you could do what we do. Our girls have the slipcovered chairs in their bedrooms and we just bought the white covers and dyed them to match their bedroom. We went to JoAnn fabrics and bought RIT dye (with a 40% off coupon, of course) and it was a no-brainer. The chair covers turned out perfectly and the girls are thrilled. They have the most beautiful pink and yellow, chairs now!

Bianca - I had heard horror stories about dying them. I'm glad yours turned out so nice. I was really looking for something in a celery/pear green, so if I can get the extra white covers cheap, I'd be willing to take a chance!

Dying them was not difficult. I think that the horror stories come from people that do not follow the very simple directions provided on the box. First and foremost, wash the chair cover first, so that it is already wet when you put it in the dye. Second, make sure you agitate the dye well in the washer BEFORE adding the chair cover. The mistakes people make usually come from throwing the chair cover into the dye water before it is mixed well. You will definitely come up with some pretty nasty looking stuff if you do that. You can get pretty much any color by doing it yourself.
