So, I am tired of the cheap character backpacks that last about 2 months before they get a rip or hole.
My friend has an LL Bean for her older daughter, so was going to go with that for my DS, entering 3rd grade. The one he wants is sold out.:sad2:
Is there another company that is comparable in quality and price ?
Thanks !!

Lands End. We're going on our 3rd year with the same bag, and it looks brand new still.

I second Land's End. My son is also starting his third year with the same backpack and it looks like new. Worth every penny!

The Lands End ones are a good choice, but I did find that the LL Bean ones held up a bit better. Plus the design of the zipper on the Lands End one last year was terrible. One side or the other was always getting stuck on the fabric. My older DD (9) has used a CalPak for the last two years that I bought on clearance from eBags. I think I spent less than $25 on it.

I really like the Pottery Barn Kids backpacks. They aren't exactly inex*****ive, but they hold up really well. DD used hers 2 years and we only bought a new one because she wanted something new.

This year we bought Garnet Hill backpacks. Can't say how they hold up yet, but the quality seems comparable to PBK or Lands End. Right now they have free shipping and free lunchbox when you buy a backpack.

DD #1 has an LL Bean rolling backpack (it's her second LLB one...the first got used from preschool through the middle of second grade and is still intact, it's just a bit dirty and the rolling one helps her cart her books around since she's something of a peanut). DD #2 has a Garnet Hill bag my parents gave her as a birthday gift. She hasn't used the backpack yet since her preschool gave the kids bags, but she's used the coordinating lunchbox.

This is JMO, but the LLB bag is definitely better quality. The Garnet Hill one is great for the price, especially with the free lunchbox. But I will say we don't care much for the style of the lunchboxes. DDs stuff falls right out when you unzip it and it's not very deep so fitting certain things in is a challenge. If at all possible I'd get the LLB one over the GH one any day. Can't help with Lands End...I'm not a big Sears fan for several reasons so I tend to avoid their products.

My son has had the same Lands' End backpack since second grade. He is going into 7th and planning on using it again. It has also been his carry-on for countless trips.

Another vote for Lands End. My oldest DD had hers for years; it's actually still in excellent shape, she just grew tired and 'too old' for the monogram and butterfly, lol

Another good brand is Under Armor. Lasted through 3 very hard years in junior high and is still great, but I promised my DD a new one for high school.

My dd has a Land's End one that we love... we will be buying another this year as hers is a little too small now that she's in 3rd grade.

I have a Jansport that I've had for 10plus years. We still use it for all vacations, hikes, day outings and it has no issues. I bought a Jansport for my older ds because he doesn't care about the color (dd wanted the lands end print)

used his LE backpack for 3 years and then the zipper broke. I contacted them to see if maybe we could get some credit toward a new bag since they are guaranteed for life. I sent them back the bag and they sent me a check for the full purchase price from 3 years ago. Will definitely be buying the new one there..

Another vote for Lands End. My 5th grader has been using the same backpack since 1st grade and it is in great shape.

We've had great luck with Lands' End. My DS is entering 5th grade and is using the same one we bought him for Kindergarten!

Hanna Anderson makes wonderful backpacks that hold up all year. Most designs are meant for girls, but they do have some boy ones.

My 2 oldest boys both have Jansports. My oldest is starting high school and isn't easy on his things but it's still in great condition after 3 years. I have also borrowed it for our Disney trips. :)

Another vote for Land's End. My kiddos have their backpacks and the matching lunch bags. You can always google for a promo code as well.

When I ordered, I had a code that gave $10 off of $50 and free shipping and I think a similar one is floating around currently.

I also got the kids luggage sets so I split my order into 5 or 6 orders and was able to use the promo code each time.

We love Hanna's here too! My DDs start getting tired of their backpacks and asking for new ones before they wear out!
