OT scam story

OT, I hope no one minds,
A magazine I subscribe to offered to let me test tools and keep them! Then reading further it says "one of many benefits of the tool club" which means I have to pay to join the club, of course. $12 a year, seemed pretty cheap. Later the letter reads "our 280,000 members reviewed over $3 million worth of tools last year" and then "tools will be distributed first come first serve" So I would be 280,001? When would I ever get a tool? Then I thought, "wow this company is getting $280,000 monthly from all these suckers!!!!

it's run by the same company both my mother & i stupidly subscribed to for gardening...my "free to try products" include one seed pack ( off brand available at walmart for under $1) once a yr....they did have things like Mantis tillers that were "tested" but they always went to those who paid a bunch of money to become" lifetime " members and very rarely...my mom belonged longer than me and got the same thing i did, except once got a pack of osmocote...the size that comes in a seed package size for free with gardening stuff

they also have one for cooking...mom joined and got to test a plastic spagetti portion size thing you might find marked down to a quarter at a dollar store
