It is amazing how many looks that man can pull off! I really think he is finally coming into his prime as an actor (at least getting roles finally where he can shine).

Let us know how you like the film. My son wants to see it and has seen the originals, but Tim Burton has that "creepy" slant so I am not sure about it (for him - I will definately go and see it )

Love the Captain Jack look, loved the 'Neverland" Scottish brogue. CAn't say I LIKE the look of Willy Wonka (tho Gene Wilder might be interfering with my ability to see Johnny as this cross between Michael Jackson and Natalie Portman. (Oh I am full of it today, aren't I?)

I love remembering Edward Scizzorhands and Gilbert Grape. I just watched Depp on a talk show where he spoke about thinking he would be fired by Disney for each of the first 30 days of Pirates filming. I used the word 'foppish' but Johnny used the word 'effete' to describe what concerned DIsney about his characterization. He said that he modeled the part after (in part) Keith Richards...but that he went into a sauna for a few hours and the 'weaving spaciness' of Captain Jack came from how he felt when he came out of the sauna.

Who knows when Pirates 2 is coming out?

OMG!!!! It was so good & IMO better than the orginal!!!! Wilder did a get job, don't get me wrong!! Johnny Depp was even better!!!!! I couldn't stop laughing!!! Tim burton is a visionary!!! Can't wait for Corpse Bride in September! The kids & parents were good too. See it & have a blast!

Thank you for the tip not to see the original before we went to see C&CF.

I do have to say that there were several parts taking right from the original, couldnt help comparing the two.

We went and saw C&CF last night and I have a new favorite movie. I was loved the original but this one is 10x better. Can't wait to go and see it again.

I saw it on Sunday... thought it was ok... a bit disturbing in parts. The whole Michael Jackson look going on, and using just the 1 ompa lumpa (sp?). When they first came out to do the first song, I was like "what in the world!"

I definately liked the original better.

Depp did a good job though!

My favorite new saying that I took away from the movie to use when I don't like what someone is saying: "MUMBLER! I can't understand a word that you are saying!"
