Hi! I'm thinking about bringing my mom & DD to the American Girl Place for tea during our upcoming trip to L.A. DD will not be bringing her doll with her (just too much to lug back & forth on the plane!). Will she feel out of place if she goes without a doll?

And can you get out of there without spending a fortune?

I don't think she'll feel out of place. My DD has been to the AG Place in Chicago on several occasions and only brought her doll with her once. I am always worried about her laying it down somewhere and forgetting to pick it up. A very expensive item to lose to say the least (Luckily we only bought her one of her dolls, but still.)

Oh and try to go with a budget, and stick to it if you can. Though it is difficult it can be done. Not only do they have the doll accesories, they also have girls clothing, and every book they make, as well as some other neat things. I don't want to give too much away, but the store in L.A. may be different from the one in Chicago.

If you have tea in the Cafe they have dolls you can borrow. I don't let my girls bring their own with them and we've always been able to "borrow" the ones in the cafe.

We've been to the one in NYC and it is massive. Very hard to get out of there with any money left, unless you have tons of self control. DD has one doll and I think we now have just about every imaginable accessory and outfit for any occasion. I'm not even into them, but I got like a little kid in the store holding things up for DD and saying, "isn't this cute?" and "what about this?"-I really was bad (I have ZERO self control when shopping). But I'm sure if you put your mind to it and have that budget set, you should be fine. We had a blast there-I think we were inside for a good 2 hours. :woohoo:

Thanks, all! It's nice to know that you can "borrow" a doll. DD doesn't play with hers much (it's not Pocahontas, you see! :) ), but I thought that it would be a fun thing to do with my mom. Something different. So maybe once we're there she'll want to start playing with hers again.

I'm making a bunch of Disney Princess dresses for it (a great Simplicity pattern!), but all DD was roll her eyes. Yes, not Pocahontas, again. I guess I'll have to come up with a Pocahontas costume.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks for the tip about setting a budget and sticking to it. I could see how easy it would be for us doll-loving mommies to buy one of each item in the store!

If you want (and if we do go), I'll be sure to let you know how the L.A. store is.

They do sell doll clothes at Disney, if I remember correctly and will fit an AG doll. We bought DD a Tink outfit for her Kit doll, maybe you can find a Pocahontas one on your trip.

Yes, they do fit the AG doll (and the Disney doll that is sold at WDW). I know that exact Tink outfit cause DD bought it too for her AG doll-she also got Jasmine. Very cute! :upsidedow

I am hoping to find a Pocahontas one at WDW! Here's to hoping they have one. Has anyone happened to see one there?

I sew, so last week I purchased the Simplicity pattern with 6 Disney princess dresses in it (Cindy, Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Tink). I'm going to make those for DD (or me! ). I'm also having fun making clothes for Pal Mickey. But I digress (again...)

Otherwise DD might like the Kaya line, too! We'll just have to see.
