I have been attempting to book a trip to Phoenix for a long weekend and I cannot find a decent rate. So what I did was booked it on the Priceline Name Your Own Price feature. I got an excellent rate on the room, one problem is the ratings on tripadvisor are not so kind to this hotel.

My question to you is knowing this trip is non-refundable... If upon arrival, I find the hotel to be inadequate, what do I do? Complain and ask the hotel to put us up at their sister property, or book travel insurance with the cancel for any reason clause?

Thanks for your help!

That's one of the reasons I never book with Priceline. I like to know where I am staying.

Try calling Priceline and tell them that you are reading bad reviews an see if they will refund your money.

I haven't had much luck with Priceline.....I tend to stay away from them

I should have know better, but the deal was too good to pass up. I will use this as a learning experience for sure.

My daughter uses Priceline, but she's very specific, that she only wants 3 stars (or better). They've gotten rooms in Philadelphia and have always been happy. But I think you have to do some research ahead of time so that you know what's in the area. It's a learning experience.

First, Do not panic. Sometimes I find trip advisor reviews to be a little more negative then some others. Check out the reviews for your hotel on orbitz and expedia. Sometimes trip advisor folks expect a lot because they paid full price and did not get the value they wanted. On the other sites people paid less and the reviews are often better based on the value. On the TA site, look at the pictures people posted. Pictures speak a thousand words.

I have used priceline and hotwire and always been satisfied. I never bid less then 3 stars, usually 4 Stars.. Before using priceline again, check out betterbidding.com so you will have an idea of what the hotel MAY be for a given city. A little prep can help make the process easier.

I hope this helps. What hotel did you get?
