Okay, I bet you guys in the forum are tired of hearing about potential job interviews, thoughts following an interview, or even anything that has to do with an interview!

But, I have a question to pose forth to you all because I value your opinions, and am looking to rest easy with my initial notions.

On Friday, I had an interview with a big investment bank, starts with a Goldman ends with a Sachs. The interview in my opinion went Okay, to be honest they are quite difficult to judge... simply because you meet with so many people it drives you bonkers after a while! But, during the interview... it seemed as though the incumbent in the position and I really hit it off! Which only proves to be a good sign, nonetheless... the interview ended at about 4:45pm and once I arrived home it was close to 7pm (ugh that Holland Tunnel and Turnpike traffic), but I e-mailed thank you's to everyone (all 10 of the people I met with). And, about a half hour later... recieved an e-mail in return from the Managing Director (aka Hiring Manager) stating that it was nice to meet with me, and thank you for coming in on such short notice. Now being that it was a friday and 745 at night! I was floored and since have been reading into this like it has been my only reason for living!

Reason behind the post is to ask what do you guys think of it? What do you think my chances look like as a result of the response? I usually do not recieve a response, so to recieve one is HUGE! Thanks for all your input! I will be sure to let you know how the search is coming and the outcome of this position!

Goldman Sachs is famous for having their employees work looonnnnnng hours. So it does not surprise me you received a response at 7:45pm on a Friday Night

I would take it as a positive sign that the Managing Director thanked you for your time and sent an email back so shortly after you had just met with the company.

Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.

I'm sure the response came from his "hip" ie, blackberry. I know I get mine at all hours of the day on my phone. Sounds like a positive response though, I'm guessing you will hear back from them soon.

I just went through this with my husband, and I know it is agony! You really do become fixated and analyze every gesture, greeting, email, etc. It sounds positive though, and you'll hear soon! Good luck!!!!!

maybe it is a good sign. like someone else said, do they typically work late (or work remotely etc.). Regardless, it sounds like it went VERY well and you hitting it off with the incumbent is always a good sign. I wish you the very best and can't wait to hear the good news!

Thank you for the encouraging news! The company is well known for working late, specficially this department. But, I am still waiting :surfweb: checking my e-mail on an hourly basis! I contacted the recruiter today as per her request during the interview... to follow up, and left her a message. I am still so anxious I hope to hear back soon with anything, just because this is it, it is the job I totally want. I will keep you guys posted, please keep your fingers crossed!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good Luck and let us know when you hear something. I see your from Colts Neck - I'm in Tinton Falls bordering Colts Neck! Small world!

Good luck with GS.
I hope your young with alot of energy . . . they are going to work you if you get the job.

Like Disney, if you don't want to come to work on Sunday, don't bother coming to work on Monday : - )

Best Wishes,

DRNYKCB

The thank you notes are a great thing. A good sign that you left them with a positive feeling that they replied back. Here's wishing you the best and hoping you get the job.

Keep us posted. (Remember that they have to check references, and this can take a few days)

I sincerely want to thank you all for the guidance and good wishes you all have given me, not to mention advice. I recieved an offer earlier this evening, and it was to be contingent on reference and background checks. I am wondering what kind of background check it is that they run?, is it an indepth background check or employment check? I asked the recruiter and she responded with "as long as you did not rob a bank, I am assuming that we should be okay". So my guess is, it is just a criminal background check!
With that being said, thanks again for all your help guys, and after I see the vacation policy... maybe there will be a well deserved podcast cruise 2.0 in my future! Hope to see you all very soon, and thanks again! :cool1::banana::banana::banana:

congratulations on the offer!!

many big companies use outside specialists to run their background checks...
they confirm what's written on your resume - education, references, work experience...

i've been called numerous times for background checks of former employees who returned to the US....
