OT - Prayers and Pixie Dust for DisHokie and her baby!

One of my dear friends (in real life) is DisHokie on the boards. She was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital this morning at 33 1/2 weeks pregnant. And it appears that she will be there until she delivers. I think she could use all of the thoughts, prayers and pixie dust that the disboards can send!

She will have her computer at the hospital so I'm sure she'll be checking up on the Dis!

Bed rest is very hard, but having supportive friends helps so much!!! Try to make sure she has things to do since that will make the time go much faster.

I was admitted into hospital with my first pregnancy at 30 weeks and had to deliver my DS at 33 weeks. He weighed in at 7lbs then but was a very healthy baby... he's now 6ft tall and will be 20 this september!!!!
So please don't worry too much.

I think it's still a bit of a shock to her but she is hanging in there!

Hugs and prayers! The good news is that she is far enough along in the PG that the baby will most likely be fine! I'm sure they are giving her steroids to develop the lungs if they think delivery could be imminent.

Just hang in there, everything will be just fine!

My water broke unexpectedly at 34 weeks & I delivered within 4 hours. He was 5 pounds & was in NICU for 10 days & is now a healthy 7 year old. When I look at him now it is so hard to believe he started out as a premie!

Even if your baby is born early he/she is developed enough to not have any longterm issues. If they will let you, ask if you can see the NICU unit & talk to some of the nurses or better yet, moms in there. I know when I was spending time with my little guy in NICU they brought in another pregnant mom who was 34 weeks & could deliver at any time. That way she could familiarize her with the unit & she could see another baby that was born at the same number of weeks.

If you do need any premie clothes (which believe me, they don't stay in for long so don't buy many) they have a huge selection of them at Walmart--I'm pretty sure Carters makes them. At least have someone pick up a little go home outfit that the little one won't drown in!

Don't forget that you have a huge support system on the DIS boards with plenty of us who have been there. Any questions, ask away!

Now, take it easy, relax, sleep, and catch up on the DIS boards. It won't be long before you'll be wishing you had more time to do any of them!

Hugs! I was on bed rest for 10 weeks for my twins, luckily not in the hospital. It is so worth it in the end. Hang in there!

thanks eveyone! we are doing well.. just playing the waiting game.. if all goes as planned baby will be born tues or wed at 34 weeks!

Sending you tons of positive vibes!!!! I delivered my DD at 32.5 wks. She weighed 3lbs11oz. She stayed in the NICU for 19 days but did not need oxygen, probably because of the steroids shots I received a week before. I was on bedrest in the hosptial for one week and it was aweful but totally worth it! She is my angel now and she is just about 2.5 yrs old! She is still a peanut and probably always will be but that's ok!
