Since we are stuck in the house for the next few days and I'm trying to cheer myself up since we were supposed to leave for our long drive to WDW today (thanks pertussis!), I decided to do some phone shopping online. I want to drop Sprint (can get out of contract for $50/line since we are so close to the end) and my Blackberry is dying a horrible death, so I am trying to decide between the Apple iPhone 4 S and the Samsung Galaxy S III, and also between Verizon and T-mobile (I know Verizon has both phones; have to double check on T-mobile). If anyone have any good or bad experiences with either of these phones or carriers? Help me pick!!

I have the iPhone 4s and love it. I had a 3G previously. I'm sure that Android phones are just fine, but I really love the iPhones. You will have to pay more for an iPhone since they are not as heavily discounted as the Andriods, but for me it's worth it. My carrier is AT&T which was really bad outside of my home town but is finally adding more infrastructure and towers so it's 100% better than even a year ago. I can't comment on Verizon and T-Mobile but I do know that it really depends on where you live and your cell tower coverage.

Love Verizon and my company gets a corporate discount. Have service everywhere! Haven't heard many good things about T Mobile. Also with Verizon, calls to a set Friends and Family list doesn't count against minutes so the days of going over your minute plan are over for us. The data plan is solely for my phone, the Incredible 2, and I like the phone too.

If you want an iPhone, wait. The iPhone 5 is supposed to be announced Sept. 12.

I tried the Samsung Galaxy S III, but just didn't like it. I prefer my iPhone and will upgrade when the 5 comes out.

Not necessarily. Many android phones are as much as an iPhone (I'm speaking of the price you pay with a 2 year contract). For example, the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III is the same price as an iPhone.

(with a grain of salt) I don't have either phone. But DH tried the Galaxy a few weeks ago and wasn't a fan. I didn't choose an iphone when I had the chance last fall b/c I wanted to be compatible with DH's Droid. Big mistake. I regret not getting the iphone - it's so user friendly, everything is geared towards it, and if you ever use itunes it just makes life easier. I've reverted back to my ipod touch that's four years old b/c I miss the compatibility with everything else I do.

Verizon vs T-mobile, it depends on where you live.

I had T-Mobile and the coverage was terrible. Dead zones everywhere I needed to be. I lived with it until DD was going to Jr High. She needed a phone and service that was reliable, so we switched to Verizon. The coverage is 1000 times better where we live. It's more expensive than T-Mobile, but if DD needs to reach me, I know that she can.

I don't know anything about the Samsung Galaxy, but DD has an iphone and loves it. I like my Droid, but when my contract is up next year, I might look into an iphone. At least, I can play with DD's between now and then and see how much I like it.

Have T Mobile, long time customer. Totally happy with service, plans, pricing, & phones. Have been able to get 2 free android smart phones & 3 other nice, new "dumb" phones for free in past 2 years. They also gave us a booster for faster & better cell coverage in the home. Love, love, love them. Have 5 lines now, so wish I could add 6th for DS, but 5 is limit for family plan, believe verizon is the same.
