3g is ok again, so this is from my iPhone. It works very well from wifi and is free from your own, plus the cloud and another wifi brand around the uk are both free, so you get those as well

Thank you very much.

I'm almost certain on the iPhone. I guess that you get charged for roaming wi-fi though as you would for normal internet browsing while abroad.

I really like the fact the when you are abroad O2 wil use 4 of your message allowance to send 1 text back home. It cost me a fortune in Germany texting my Grandparents from the 3 phone. If I'd have known about that before I'd have made the wife use her O2 phone with unlimited texts!!

Just found that you can buy the iPhone on PAYG from yesterday for £349.99 :scared1:

Indeed you can get it on pay as you go and there's a lot of number crunching to be done as to whether that is cheaper or more expensive for you.

Roaming wifi is subject to standard wifi rates - e.g. it would be free in Macdonalds, or would cost the standard DLRP rate in the hotels, so basically it's the same costs as if you had a laptop.

Roaming data (gprs / edge / 3g) on the other hand, can add up very quickly because the iPhone is very data intensive. Fortunately, there is a setting buried inside the iPhones menu system which toggles whether data roaming is allowed or not. By default, it is set to "not allowed", so unless you actually change that setting, you will not be receive an expensive bill upon your return for unexpected data usage.

That's a brilliant idea!

Thanks for your help. It'll be better for me to get it on a contract to be honest as my wife gets 30% off all O2 contracts through her work making the £35 per month package only £24.50 a month!

Wooohoooo! Samsung are sending me a new phone!!

Hopefully either the same as my d900i or a higher model yay! Just waiting for the lady to ring me back.

Excellent, that's a bit of a result. Let's hope that this is the end of the whole phone saga for you!

I hope so too, shame ill have to wait upto 14 days to recieve it lol.

They are sending me a U600 in blue, they didn't have it in pink :(

Well I'm using a old phone of my brothers, and i have promised to text Fay while I'm away. :goodvibes

Fair enough. I've promised to text my grandparents while we are away. Will probably use the missus' phone as I've just learnt that on O2 contracts they just deduct 4 texts from your allowance if you are abroad and send a text to the UK and she has unlimited texts! Mine cost me 25p each with 3

Have you checked that the "deduct 4" clause still applies to unlimited texts, because sometimes there are exceptions.

I've not checked but that was what happened in August when we were in Germany.

I won't be buying a annual pass now as Kyra's ballet uniform is going to cost me about £40 aswell as £30 for the term fee.

The shares are really cheap at the moment, so you could do that instead?

They've gone down to about £7.50 a share now, so you could get your shares for £50...

I was thinking of the shares, although with getting Ap's it's probably not worth it for this trip

I can't afford the extra £50 for shares at the moment either as I need to order Kyra's nursery uniform aswell.

Shares I will buy after January.

I'd like shares but all the shares thread are really long and i cant be bothered to read them all to understand lol

I'm looking at the application i was sent for a dealing account..Can i not just ring up and buy shares instead of all this filling in form malarky?

Your bank should offer this as an option, best to give them a call and find out if they do!
