OT: Pan Am Games- anyone watching?

I have to admit I didn't watch the opening ceremonies. But we've had a good day so far. 2 gold medals for the ladies in K4 and synchro swimming pairs. And good heats in several other sports. As a rule I don't watch a lot of sports on TV (even hockey!), but I can see that I may be spending a fair amount of time doing just that over the next 2 weeks.

I watched the Opening Ceremonies last night & was truly impressed with the job Cirque Du Soleil did on it. The Canadian Athletes from past Olympics, NHL, NBA, CFL & MLB was a true reminder of how awesome we really are! The organizers included inspirational Canadians as well - Rick Hanson, Craig Keilburger, and various community heroes carried in the flags (Olympic, & Pan Am flags) Our Aboriginal people, francophone Canadians & those who chose Canada as their home were all nicely represented. The Arts, and Canadian artists all well shown off as well.

I have been running around getting things done today, will have to catch up on the day's events later this evening on CBCs recap show!

Sad to hear two participants were disqualified for registering for a wrong tournament (Taipei Open vs Taipei Grand Prix) that also affects their Rio chances.

I am going to rugby today. Been paying attention but I am a sports nut so this is good for me. Excited to see some action live.
