Hello All ~ I thought it would be fun to start a CANADIAN CAMPERS thread!

We have a nice little tent trailer ~ 10 feet Jayco Qwest. We love it! We store it in Flamboro [North Hamilton] since we tend to camp a lot in that area.

So far we've been to Valen's four times. I'm looking around for a permanent site and trailer in a nice park. No luck so far.

Tell me your camping plans!

Blessings, Sandra

I'm so excited! We might buy a permanent trailer! It's a fixer-upper, but I like the park! Now I'll have to sell my tent trailer!

I love camping:cool1:

I bought a new tent trailer last summer. It is a flagstaff - we just love it. Went everywhere last summer/fall.

So far we have been to Rideau Acres in Kingston, Cedardale in Trenton - very nice but very near to a race track. This weekend we are camping near Markham at a place called Grangeways - anyone ever been? We are camping with my brother and his family - they live in Waterloo, us in Kingston so it it almost halfway. Really looking forward to this longweekend:banana:

Happy Monday everyone

We used to camp more often but this year are looking at a weekend canoe/tent camping in Algonquin. Not sure what weekend though. Last year we went twice.

We just got back from the Gravenhurst KOA. We stayed in a cabin. It was a nice park with lots to do. I would go back.

ok does taking my sleeping bag to my dad's cottage in Peterbourough
count?? Heading north first weekend of July.

Camping used to be so much fun when I was younger --maybe I need to think about trying it again.
A friend of mine has a trailer in Fergus Ontario --I thought the Park was beautiful and each of the sites quite big.
Happy hunting Sandra
Hugs Mel

We are campers too. In a tent, pretty basic though. We may move up to a pop up some day. Just got back from our DSs first camping trip (11 months old) at Bissells Hideway near Welland. Great spot. I highly recommend it.

We have nothing else scheduled for the summer but hopefully will get the chance to go somewhere else.

We did it! We bought a permanent trailer in a lovely campground. As much as I wanted a permanent trailer, we never liked the campgrounds we'd seen. They were too "Trailer Park Boys". I did the rowdy drinking and druggy camping when I was a teenager, I don't want that now. The campground we found is awesome! Lots of mature snowbirds who have places in Florida for the winter and trailers in our park in the summer. Our spot has gorgeous trees and lots of room. The trailer is older, about 22 years old, but it has a lovely Florida Room! I'll be putting in an A/C soon and cleaning it up. My kids love the pool and the other kids in the park are great! I'm very happy! Disney Meet up at my trailer? Blessings, Sandra

So where did you end up buying?

Congrats on the new trailer on a perm spot. I have a thought. If you can afford to keep the pop up do so as many in the perm parks still enjoy towing to other places like disney and myrtle beach to save costs on hotel rates. My father is up on consession 11 just east of HWY 6 I beleive it is so is my brother. I cant remember the name of the park. It is a very nice park. We have towed there once. We don't like to stay put for to long. You should post some pics i'm sure we would love to see them.

We just bought a (new to us) tent trailer this spring. So far we've been to Murphy's Point Provincial Park and Silver Lake Provincial Park. They were just weekend trips and close to home.

We'll be heading through the northeastern U.S next month, heading for a week in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick... camping along the way.

We found a lovely campground in Acton called Nor-Halton. I was at the trailer today [only 30 minutes from home, but it really feels like I'm "getting away"]. I cleaned for 2 hours and it still needs about two hours more cleaning.

Is your Dad and Brother at Maple? Gullivers? Pine Valley? Emerald Lake? We looked at all of them.

So far we are keeping the tent trailer too. It's in great shape.

We will head to the trailer for the long weekend! S

We're tent and canoe campers - going to try and find a spot somewhere along the grand for the weekend of July 15th - anyone been to Laurel creek or any of the other grand river parks to camp??

GRAND RIVER CONSERVATION CAMPING IS AWESOME!

Paris has lovely wooded spots and a nice little beach. We like venturing into town for a little lunch!

Brant has the best pool, althought it is cold, the spots vary from wooded to open. The river is lovely. Lots of deer here!

Rockwood is nice too! We like canoeing and the beach!

Happy Camping! S

We just returned from a three-day weekend trip to our new [new to us, but it's at least 20 years old] trailer. WE LOVE IT! It feels like OURS now. Still lots of work to do, but I'm up for it!

Any other Canada Day campers out there? Blessings, Sandra

Glad to read that you had a great time up at your "new" trailer, Sandra! How big is it?

Many years ago, when we used to tent camp a lot and we also had a large "older" Jayco tent trailer that we put on a permanent spot up at Happy Hills Campground in Embro. We had it there for 3 years and it was a beautiful spot to escape to on weekends. Lots of trees and a nice pool!

We eventually gave up all camping as the kids and DH weren't interested any longer and that Jayco now often travels to Florida with new owners, relatives of DH's SIL, so it's still kind of in the family. I still have tent camping gear that I hope to use again some day. One of our favourite vacation spots was Cape Anne Campground, just north of Boston, in Gloucester.

This summer I'm going out to Nanaimo to visit my sister and will also be going into the interior to Shuswap Lake to camp with her family and inlaws, who have a large trailer on property they own there. I'm really looking forward to camping again!

We sold our 8ft box jayco tent trailer last year.... Hoping to get a good deal on a 10-12ft tent trailer by next summer. Our work schedules are crazy so camping this year is likely out of the question. And now that we have camped in a trailer a tent is out of the question. Take care Kathy..Congrats Sandra on your new home away from home.

We were so lucky to find our trailer. I knew what I wanted for a couple of years. I wanted a nice park, with a pool, close to home, Florida room, under $10,000. We looked and looked and looked!

I located the park on the internet just over a week ago. They don't have a fancy website...one page really. I called and asked about trailers. They had three trailers for sale. The first one we saw was $5000 with a Florida room in a great location. The former owner just paid the $1800 annual fees and wanted to re-coup some of the fee. I ended up paying $5300 for the trailer, Florida room, 2007 park fees. So the trailer ended up being $3400. We will pay $300 for winter storage in the Fall and $1500 for the camping fees. I like the park and really see positive potential. One of the kids in the park told my dd that the owner is a cop. They just bought the park about 18 months ago.

I tidied up a lot this weekend and have plans to pretty it up some more this summer.

I'll hang on to my tent trailer for a while. It's still new to me. Thanks all!

HAPPY CAMPING! S

I just came across this thread while searching for SandraC's Cedar Point review and thought I bring it forward since it's almost that time again :cool1: I'm getting cabin fever, this winter just seems to be lasting so long. We have four reservations so far for the coming season. We have a weekend booked at Pinery, a week at Algonquin, a week at Bruce National Park and a long weekend at Camper's Cove in Wheatley. As it stands right now, our first weekend out will be the weekend after the May long weekend......but not sure I can wait that long - if it gets :worship:warm anytime soon I may talk DH into an earlier outing!
