if I get one for the kids, can I use it with the same computer that I use for mine? I don't want them to download stuff from the library on their own computers.

Not 100% of the question here. If they get a nook, they would download directly to that while at the library.

They don't need a computer to get books onto the Nook. You can use it that way if you wanted, but the Nook itself does the job instead.

You can use the nook 100% fine without a computer. You miss out putting on music, pics, etc, but you can do it.

If your library's e-books use ADE to authorize the books, then I believe that yes, you can activate up to 6 devices with the same Adobe ID, so you'd be able to plug the kids' nook into your computer with ADE on it, authorize the device from your computer and load the books from your computer. If your library uses something else to check out books, I'm not sure.

my library uses ADE, so yay!

I didn't realize I could download them with the Nook while at the library
