So, last night we went to see fireworks at a nearby park. About 5 minutes in DD4 hides her face and says, "I don't want to watch these fireworks. I only like Magic Kingdom fireworks!" :rotfl:
Think I've ruined her for life?
BTW, when she realized we weren't going to MK until Jan, she decided to "make do" and watch the boring ole Dallas fireworks after all!

I feel the same way! Once you have seen the fireworks at WDW, nothing else is as good.

My family talked about Disney last night, as we sat watching our local fireworks, too.

Our two older girls are flying home 4 days before us, (DD23 is in a wedding, and DD17, wants to get back for cheerleading practice.)

Anyway, she hasn't look at our Disney schedule, so she asked...

DD17 - "Mom, will I get to see the fireworks at MK?"
Me - "Yes, twice. We have MK planned as our first day and your last day, why?"
DD17 -"Because these fireworks aren't cutting it."
Me - "Would help if there was a castle?" :rotfl:
DD17 - "Yes, but where can I get a dole whip?" :rotfl2:
DS7 - "And, Tinkerbell. I want Tinkerbell, too."

They only have to wait 'til August. :yay:

Wow I dont blame her though my family is the exact same

Disney was on our minds while we watched fireworks last night too! Made us miss being there. :sad1:

:lmao: omg this sounds like my niece. We went to disney last year and of course she fell in love with all the characters. Anyway we have a family friend (who will be going with us next year) who performs in a drumline for her high school. It was right before Christmas and she was performing at the mall in Cheltenham. So after the drumline finished it came over the loudspeaker that Minnie was coming out to take pictures. Of course dn was excited, she looked at the Minnie Mouse and started frowning; her face got all scrunched up and she was getting irritated waiting for the imposter to leave and the real Minnie to appear. The Minnie Mouse costume was the ghetto version, you know, off colored, not as plump just not Disney. Well the lady sitting next to dn with her kids, turned to my dn and said, "look honey Minnie Mouse!" My dn said, "no it's not, that's not Minnie." the woman said, "yes it is." Dn said, "No that's not Minnie, not Minnie!" The poor woman looked over at us, I smiled and started laughing silently. My sister and mother just burst out laughing, :rotfl2: and dn just looked at everyone like they were idiots.

We don't even bother going to see local fireworks. We feel the same way....in fact, DH was just saying the same thing today! We will wait to go to Disney! :thumbsup2

LOL sounds like my wife she didnt even want to watch the Boston Pops Fireworks on TV this year because we are so close to seeing the fireworks at WDW.

Us either, but we happened to catch some in the car last night - I guess a few towns do them on the 3rd instead of the 4th...my little "Disney snob" asked me to put the Wishes soundtrack on so he could pretend he was in Magic Kingdom. Closest thing I had was the Spectromagic one, so he made due with that one. :rotfl2:

Boy, this thread brings back funny memories.

We had just moved to a new town when my DD was 1 1/2. We were excited to go down to the town park to watch the fireworks on the 4th. DD was so quiet and watched intently the whole time. But when the fireworks were over she looked over at me, started hugging me, and just bawling her eyes out.

It tooked me a few tries to understand what she was saying and finally I got it - " I-I-I-I d-d-i-i-d-d-n-n-'t-t-t see-e-e Tinkerbell." My heart just melted and I tried to console her by telling her that these fireworks are different and Tinkerbell does not visit. There was just nothing I could do though, she had watched the whole fireworks waiting to see Tinkerbell and was SO disappointed.

(BTW it had been five months since we had been to Disney. Obviously Tinkerbell flying had made a lasting impression on DD.)

My kids were talking about the Disney Fireworks last night too, they are only 6 & 3 but they were both saying how they weren't as good as Magic Kingdom!

Sounds like my family! Earlier this week at King's Island amusement park and at last night during fireworks I played the "Wishes" ringtone on my phone for us all! Not even close, but the kids loved it- DH just thinks I'm a nut!

Oh, what we'll do for a little taste of Disney!

Another "wishing for Wishes" checking in - last night we stayed after our local ballgame for fireworks. The whole time I was wishing for Wishes pixiedust:

OMG, my DS said a very similar thing last night. 5 minutes into the fireworks he wanted to go home. He said he only liked the fireworks at Disney World! I  that kid!

I have done this before, too! I have Wishes on my iPod and I have a line in to my car stereo, so I can always pull it up if I happen upon some fireworks!! It isn't the same, but it sure is better than boring fireworks with no music! :cool1:

The only fireworks I get excited about are the displays at Disney and the display in NYC (tradition). Live near Stone Mountain Park(GA) that display is a joke. I will rather drive 7 hours to Orlando to watch any of the fireworks display at any of the theme parks, especially Disney.

We watched the fireworks last night in a drizzle with friends of ours who are also Disneyphiles. We were also commenting on the lack of Tink, no music (although if we had been on the beach we would have heard the patriotic songs that go along). We tried to get the kids to sing God Bless America, but they just weren't that into it. After seeing WDW fireworks most others pale in comparison. Looking forward to October.

But it's just not 4th of July with out even crummy fireworks.

My DD and I watched some fireworks in our neighborhood. She said," Mom these are baby fireworks, the daddy fireworks are at Disney and they are my favorite."

Have I ruined her for life when it comes to fireworks? I think so!
