My dd5 broke her index (fractured) and middle (shattered) fingers 2 weeks ago in a batting cage - she also had to have a bunch of stitches in her finger and nailbed. She has been in a removeable fiberglass cast. Last night we noticed that all of her fingers were swollen - we thought maybe we had the cast wrapped too tightly. This am the broken middle finger was still really bad but the others had gone down. She got up seriously cranky and we noticed right away that she had a fever - we took it and it was 102.6. We also noticed that she was making frequent trips to the potty and was complaining that she couldn't get them all out. Well on one of those trips, she forgot to flush. Dh was in there and said there was blood in the toilet. My oldest dd took her to the ER to find that she has a very bad kidney/bladder infection. She mentioned the swollen fingers and they re-xray'd her hand. The finger has not healed at all and she has pockets of infection in the bone. They admitted her and put her on 3 different antibiotics while they try to determine what type of infection she has. If it's not better by tomorrow, they are going to have Orthopedics drain the infection. Once they get the infection down, she will have to have surgery to fix the finger.

OMG I'm so sorry your little princess has to go through this :sad1:

A big hug to you and wishes for a speedy recovery to her. :grouphug:

Your poor little girl, I am so sorry to hear she is so sick. I hope she gets better very soon. I will keep her in my prayers!

Holy Mouse!!!! Poor kiddo! Though I'm glad you were so diligent (sp??) with her symptoms and that she is on a road to recovery. Keep her comfortable and encouraged.

I had lots of surgeries as a kid and I hated the down time, but my family kept me entertained with movies and books.

Keep your chin up!

Oh no! Give your little pumpkin a big hug and kiss ! I hope she comes home soon and they can get that infection. I had no idea a batting cage could be that dangerous!

Hope she feels better soon!! I didnt realize they let kids that young in batting cages! Poor kid.

(((HUGS))) to you and her. I know it is horrible to have a little on in the hospital. I hope she is on the road to recovery soon.

Both myself and my oldest dd were hospitalized several times at that age with kidney infections. Not fun! poor little thing. Please let us know how she is doing.

Julie
