Hello all... this is a little off topic, but I had to ask the people who would know :thumbsup2 !

We'll be down in August, and while there we will be celebrating our DS's b-day. He's going to be 11 y/o... so he's too "cool" for the character meals, so we thought we'd try either Medieval Times or Pirate Dinner Adventure.

Any thoughts on which one might be the better choice (tripadvisor has mixed reviews about the Pirate Dinner and NO reviews for MT). Thanks!

In my opinion Medieval Times was the bomb! I mean exceptional. The show was fantastic, the food was really fantastic and it was a show for the whole family. Something for everyone in the show. It is very entertaining. My family just booked a dinner back at Medieval times. We always go there when we are down in Cali.

You can go to the website for Medieval Times and check out there menu and other little things about it, such as video clips and pictures. It was a really fun experience when I went, which was a few years ago and I would definitely enjoy going back. Just know that they only serve one dish, so if your DS doesn't like it, he will be out of luck.

We've done both and MT is by far way better than the pirate dinner. We were very disappointed with the pirate dinner and we absolutely loved MT!!!

We did both when we were down in October for our honeymoon. My husband and I enjoyed the food better at Medieval Times but I personally enjoyed the pirates show a bit better. Both were a lot of fun though. I also think that MT is more interactive than the Pirates show.

We're kind of the opposite opinion. We have done Medieval Times a couple times, so last year we tried the Pirate Adventure. The kids liked that one better- we could see the action better- and we liked that there was a choice of food. That alone was an improvement! The kids get to be in the show at the end of the Pirate show as well.

So, does your DS enjoy pirates or knights more? Maybe that's the best way to look at it.

That's the tough part Silly Little Pixie! He loves Pirates (POTC, Capt Jack, etc), however he's a history buff (I KNOW, have you ever heard of a 10 year old 'history buff') and he really enjoys the medieval stuff! We want it to be a surprise for his birthday...

My only concern with the Pirate Dinner Adventure is that disney folks tend to have expectations of POTC and leave disappointed because it's just not.

We will be down June 4-8 and would love to take the kids to one of these shows.. Would anyone happen to have a web address for either one or both of them? I must not be putting in the right search words...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :goodvibes

FYI... for anyone interested in celebrating a birthday at Medieval times... these are the options they have (I asked and received my response via email):

1. Birthday Free. When 3 people pay full admission (no discounts or coupons) the birthday person is free. This must be used in the month of the birthday and you must show proof of birth. This discount is available any day except Saturdays. This discount is not available when booking online and may not be combined with other discounts or coupons.

2. Knighting Ceremony. The Knighting ceremonies start at $20.00*. The basic package includes a souvenir photo of the knighting and a personalized announcement during the tournament. It also includes a commemorative scroll with the seal of the King. Please visit the Scroll Desk in the Hall of Arms when you arrive.

3. Announcement. The announcement is $10.00*. Receive a personalized announcement during the tournament and a scroll commemorating your celebration. Please visit the Scroll Desk in the Hall of Arms when you arrive.

4. Royalty Package. The Royalty package is $10.00* per person. This will give you preferred seating, spirit banner to cheer for your Knight and a commemorative program and behind the scenes show DVD.

5. Celebration Package. Celebration is $16.00* per person and includes all the perks of Royalty as well as a slice of cake, behind the scenes show DVD, group photo and an announcement during the show.

6. Cake. We offer cakes for purchase. The cakes are white or chocolate and can be purchased from your server. You may bring in a cake of your own. It must be in a box and cannot be a cake that requires refrigeration.

Royalty and Celebration must be purchased at the time you book your reservation and seating is limited.

:) :) :) :) :)

We did the Royalty Package a few years ago as a celebration of our friends' daughter's birthday. It was great! We had front row seats, the food and action were good and our knight ended up winning! :)

I was interested in maybe doing the 'Knighting Ceremony' for our (will be) 11 y/o DS... has anyone done this? What's it like?

Hey Tink did yo think the Royalty package was worth the extra money? What was the banner like?

We LOVED Medieval Times! The Royalty Package is worth it, IMHO. The cool thing is they have the horses and do demonstrations with them - very neat! They also have a falcon (I think it's a falcon) that they show how they hunt and it flies in the stadium - amazing :thumbsup2 The banners are just paper that you wave and cheer on your section's knight. Great seats though and a really fun evening - especially if you get into the whole event.

We thought it would be a little cheesy when we booked it, but all of us really enjoyed it. They also have a little museum of medieval torture devices that young boys really think are cool.

FYI - I would avoid the souvenirs shops unless you want to drop loads of cash!! You get soft drinks with your meal, but you can get really cool cups before hand (DS got the flashing light up one and DH got the goblet :thumbsup2) I think it was $13-$15 each for those.

my rose was 5dollers.
my sons dragon and man on it ended up being 27

Nothing wrong with history buffs! :thumbsup2 **Says the history major**
