OT: longest nonstop and "TSA Secured"?

I just booked the longest non-stop flight currently offered - Singapore Airlines from Newark to Singapore. 18 hours, 45 minutes. I'm super excited about the experience - they have an amazing cabin, only 100 seats on the A340-500 - not to mention actually going to Singapore. (looks like I'll be there 3 times in the winter/spring)

BUT, I noticed that both flights have the notation "TSA Secured Flight." I've never noticed this on other Amex itineraries - and Googling it comes up with too many hits for the the Secure Flight program. Does anyone know what this means?

First google hit. TSA website.

Not sure why AMEX is showing it as a TSA secure flight. Isn't every flight now a TSA secure flight?

That's not the same thing. This does not say Secure Flight. It says Secured Flight - different terminology makes me think it's referencing something different. If you read my original post, you'll see I noted that it doesn't say Secure Flight. And even if that's what it was, Secure Flight has to do with traveler information, not flights themselves. This is listed between the carrier name and the flight number on my itinerary.

Dang... 18 hours and 45 minutes... my longest flight is something like 13 hours LA to Tokyo............ that seemed like forever.... then again, I was 10! I have also done the MSP-LGW (London Gatwick) 3-4 times and that runs 8 hours..... I am no BAVARIA! Where is she anyways? I wonder if I should send out the bat signal?

I sure do miss Bavaria!

This is my longest flight ever, by FAR. I've never been on a flight longer than about 9 hours, so it will definitely be a new experience! On the bright side, my boss says that once you've done this flight a couple of times, it makes flying to Europe seem short. ;)

Don't ask. I started a thread once saying I missed her (don't know what happened) and I got my hand smacked and my thread shut.

It's basically the same.

if a flight is filed as a TSA Secured Flight (DEI504), and the SFPD information is not present in the booking, ticketing will be inhibited. Users will receive an error response similar to: “ENSURE NAME DOB AND GENDER EXIST in SSR DOCS”.
>> The user should add the SFPD information and reattempt ticket issuance.

Looks like for a secured flight the airline won't issue your ticket unless you supply SFPD information (name as it appears on your ID, date of birth and gender)

Actually, I secretly know where she is....... we keep in touch via email....... but it is top secret and if I told you, I would have to kill you....... :lmao:

Well next time you speak to her, let her know she's missed! (is that okay, or will you still have to kill me?) ;) BTW, LOVE your Bav signal! :thumbsup2

I did a 13 hour from LAX to Tahiti, it was on Qantus so it was not that bad (hot towels, lots of food and friendly fun crew.

An uncrowded plane help a lot also, I did the inaguaral 747 flight for Singapore airlines and there were more crew than passengers, we had a great time (sydney to singapore). I guess I just dated myself!

If you can sleep on the plane and have lots of entertainment it should be fun (other than the jet lag from the time change)

My boss has taken it a few times and says it's never been more than half full. And given that it's a big plane with only 100 seats, that's pretty empty. And this is set up so everyone has aisle access and the "pods" are really comfy, so it should be pretty easy...except for the 19 hours part. ;)

I booked flights today through American Express Travel, PIT-ATL-MSP-PIT. They were Delta and underneath each flight it says "TSA Secured Flight".

I have never seen that actual notation, but when I have flown Singapore Airlines to the US then it probably has to do with the security set up in SIN. You will clear normal passport control and go thru SIN security when departing SIN, but then when you arrive at your gate in SIN you will go thru a US style security meaning they will search your bags for liquids, go thru metal detectors and possibly get a freedom groping.

I miss that tart, too. Every time I manage to score Leonidas I think of her... and how she never brought me any! :goodvibes

wow... that's wicked long. My longest have been NYC-Tokyo, 17 hours... and LA-Sydney, 15 hours.

Hey, do you want to go to Las Vegas next week, or the week after? No bavaria, but I'll be there :teeth:

19 hours on a plane is nothing.

Try flying from NYC to MCO with my 3 year old - Now thats a long flight
