OT - let the chatting begin....... CHAT thread

I have just bought another 10 Euro Disney shares.
Congratulations!! :dance3:

why does this stuff alwyas happen on a weekend :headache:

Doesn't it just! Hope you get it sorted Monday. I changed my DDs phones from payg to monthly contracts a couple of weeks ago - next thing I know I've got SIX contracts and yes, they've all been taken from my account. Luckily I got it sorted quite quickly so hope yours gets done as easily too. :wizard:

Thanks :goodvibes 6 accounts! that's crazy, so glad you got it sorted but you could really do without the extra hassle of sorting stuff out. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow so I'm sure that'll make for a fun day off

Wow I haven't been on here since my Dads wedding. I am loving Carrie Cats update photos!

Ive had such a hectic week. The night before Dad's wedding I was outside and I didn't see a step and I fell down it and hurt my ankle. I put it straight in iced water and we all hoped it was just a bit of a sprain... But it swelled up pretty quickly!
The next morning my ankle was bruised and huge and the pain was excruciating! Dad said he would have to bring me to hospital for an xray! This was 5 hours before the wedding!!! So he said we would go to A&E in the private hospital because God only knows how long we would have been if we went to the public one!
So we got to Galway clinic and explained what had happened and told the lady that Dad was getting married at 2pm (it was actually 3 but I still had to go and get my hair and make up done so this little white lie was justified!).

They were absolutely fantastic! A nurse saw me straight away to check blood pressure etc and then a doctor saw me who sent me to the x-ray department straight away. The porter who wheeled me down to the x-ray dept was lovely. She checked me in there and explained how Dad was getting married and withing 2 minutes I was being wheeled to the x-ray theatre skipping the 10 or so people waiting for an x-ray! I was finished in there within a few minutes and was brought back to A&E.

Thankfully nothing was broken, I had just damaged my ligaments. They gave me painkillers, a difene injection and a prescription for more difene and the wrapped my ankle up. Then they gave my a shiny pair of crutches! Unfortunately the didn't match my dress!

I was delighted that nothing was broken but I ended up wearing my vans instead of my lovely heels... Luckily enough my dress was full length so nobody could see them :rotfl:

It did put a spoiler on the day as the castle where we were was amazing and I only made it to the top once on the night when we arrived.. before I fell.. I was really disappointed about that because it was just so beautiful but there was no way I was going to chance going up the spiral staircase incase I did more damage. But I had such an amazing time. I work part time in a hotel in the town where I live to fund college and my to keep my Disney fund account afloat, and I always work at the weddings there and I have to say that Dad's wedding was miles ahead of any wedding that I have worked at and I have worked at about 800 weddings! There was such a relaxed amazing atmosphere it was beautiful!

To add to my eventful week, I wont go into too much detail but my aunt also died (I knew this would happen soon, she had anorexia and I have only seen her 2 times in the last 10 years, she was quite sick and we all knew that she was beginning to lose the strength she had for so long)... And my little cousin was christened (this was a nice uplift for my mams family and a nice way to end a sad week for her and her sisters and brother).

Paid the balance of our dec trip yesterday so it all feels real now :cool1: only down side is naughty dlp have submitted the money x2 and it's from my current account, bearing in mind I've only paid the deposit that makes up for alot of money :scared1:

Have sent them an email and will have to wait until Monday to call them up, why does this stuff alwyas happen on a weekend :headache:

Congratulations!! :dance3:

Oh I hate when things like this happen... They always happen to me when I am actually in DLP! I once got charged 3 times for a meal in the Yacht Club! Although Disney only received the money once it came out of my account 3 times and I had to wait 3-5 working days before the money, which was somehow lost in space, reverted back into my account! The manager in the NPB was a great help though and the CM on the information desk in the Cheyenne was fantastic when I explained to him what had happened and he let me ring my bank on their phone.. It would have cost me a fortune to ring on my mobile!

Then in the TOT shop my laser card tripped their system and I got charged twice for a hoodie... I used my bf's ipod touch to go online and take screen shots of my bank account showing the transaction went out twice.
This also happened in Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost where again my laser card tripped their system and I then paid cash... I was able to take a screen shot of my account and show that the transaction had infact been made and I got refunded....

Thanks, I feel guilty saying it but I wasn't upset as I didn't really know her as she had distanced herself from the family about 15 years ago so I rarely saw her. She as only 40 years old. I did feel sad for her 4 sisters and brother though.

But the wedding was just so beautiful and magical!

It was 1940's theme, there was candles everywhere, everyone looked fantastic and it was so intimate. The dining room was small enough so the 70 guests were close and the candles just made the room magical. Then the band sang rat pack style songs and everyone could still talk while the band played in the corner. Before this there were 2 ballroom dancers that came in and did some 1940's style dancing. It was fantastic! Then everyone got a quick dancing lesson for the foxtrot, the cha cha cha and basic dance steps. I was disappointed to be on crutches at this stage as I had done a dance lesson with this teacher before and it was fun!

at 1 am we all went to the upstairs drawing room where the pianist in the band stayed and played some songs while various people sang songs as well as Dad's fiancée's choir who were amazing!!!

It was such a brilliant night and one of the best weekends of my life! It was magic! :wizard:

Hope your ankle heals quickly Laura:thumbsup2

I became a house owner as of yesterday, as I was working nights I didn't go round till today. I realise a lot more needs painting now the furniture has gone but it won't take too long.

Also had to have my fridge freezer sent back as it was dented on one side, the delivery guys weren't really helpful telling me it won't go in the house, even though the previous owners had the same one & they got it in by taking the doors off.

Oh well it just means a little longer before I move in properly:goodvibes

Looking forward to a return after no Disney at all last year. Anywhere in the world! Will be my first winter trip, and my first trip since the installment of Toy Story Playland. Excited to be taking some first time visitors along with me too.

Hope you're all well. Decided to join in the Chat thread... Im on here enough lately, so why not.

Not really that situation as I am obviously a bit Disney mad.. but my other half was unsure about Disney at first (just through never going really) but now counts down how long until our trip every day! He was just amazed by Disney having only been to Chessington etc before - kept being fascinated by the real buildings etc - not cheapo MDF sets! Never thought I'd get him to DLP twice in 6 months - yay for APs!

Also thought I'd join the chat thread as I hang around here so/too much!

This time next week I'll have left my job - then a week off (including DLP ) before I start a whole new job - bit nervous! Good excuse for new clothes shopping through right?

I didn't think I'd like Toy Story Playland after not being very impressed with the concept art but I LOVED it! Hope you like it too.

Congratulations on the new job :dance3: and hey, who needs an excuse for clothes shopping, one can never have too many clothes ... or shoes ... or Disney holidays ..... ;)

Morning all

Laura, sorry to hear about your Aunt. Its difficult losing a relative, even if ye werent that close. Anorexia is an awful infliction and it seems like so many people never toatlly shake it off. I hope things look up and that your ankle heals soon. Its a nasty injury... Managed to do mine in on Phantom Manor :( But 1st aid in the Village had me bandaged up and full of pain relief soon after and I soldiered on!

Congrats Nikki on the house being done and dusted and all yours! Great news! Have you got your colour charts out yet? Thats my favourite bit! I wouldnt ask your Dad to help though.... Ive been waiting months for him to put down my floor :lmao:

Congrats smallpig on the new job. Is it a different career then what youre currently doing?

I got all my Santa shopping done last night!!! Im delighted, love being organised and am so happy with what DD and DS will wake up to on Christmas Day :)
Girls toys seemed alot dearer but Ds's toys are definately louder/noisier!! Have a feeling his guitar might just lose its batteries on Dec 27th when the hangover from our annual St Stephens (Boxing Day) night out has kicked in!

Come on now... we never really need an excuse where fashion is concerned!

Definitely not - although shopping for winter clothes seems very odd in this weekend's heat!

Thanks! It's the same sort of job (PR) but for a company rather than an agency, looking forward to a change of scenery!

That is very organised! You must be good at keeping them hidden!

Congratulations, Nikki!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Hope you get your replacement fridge freezer soon.

Thanks, its being delivered next Friday:thumbsup2

I'm not changing the scheme too much. I was a little disappointed yesterday due to finding out I need to paint more then originally planned & that they didn't both to cut the grass for months it seems, it didn't help I had only had 2 hours sleep after night shifts. Today i'm a lot more positive, we have been round to do the lawn. My dad must have got lost when sent to do your flooring:rotfl:

Love the comment about the toys, i'm happy to buy my niece & nephew the noisiest toys to take home but if I have kids my sister will repay the favour:lmao:

Theyre in the attic in my mams! we spent ages playing with them this morning like two kids! mam was telling me all about when we were small and the neighbours used call after midnight mass and have a few too many drinks and help put the toys together.... hence many of them were wrong/dodgy on Christmas morning methinks!

Hope everyone's doing well, so lovely to see lot's of tickers getting closer :yay: we've gone in under 2 months now, I can't believe it. Really looking forward to all the trip reports :surfweb:

Off to Paris on Wednesday, no dlp sadly :sad1: but am sure it'll be great, will miss dd loads. I'm trying to show restraint and not go to Disney Village but will probably pop into the Disney Store, can I use my shareholders discount or will I cause chaos?

Hey everyone! It's been a while so I hope you're all well :goodvibes

I moved in with my new housemates and started university week before last, so things have been a little emotional. However I've been keeping myself preoccupied with the thought that it's just over two months until our trip to DLP! In fact this afternoon after my lecture I made a little inventory of all the little bits and pieces that I've been compiling for our holiday.

I've been collecting shirts through eBay and Disney Store sales, however now that I've hit five I'm telling myself no more! The heel clips are for my birthday meal at Inventions :lovestruc and in a moment of whimsy my boyfriend bought us a pair of his'n'hers mugs (he's usually a bit of a cynic!). I remembered the dig out the ears before moving, I've been wearing them since 2006 so it would have been a shame to had they been forgotten!

Wonder if you'll weaken?

Yes, you can use your shareholders card to get discount - I used mine in Rome without any problems.

Love, love, LOVE the heel clips  you must make sure you post a photo afterwards of you wearing them at your birthday meal. :)
