OT: jon and Kate + 8 new house?

And no need to falme, I don't wish them that. I alway wish a happy marriage with mom and dad for the kids sake, but it is funny all the same...

I think it is *kinda* funny because it is not something they are going through and they have shown their commitment to each other and their family (at least how the show shows it). If they were have problems or going through a divorce it would just be sad for all involved and totally not laughable. But since everything is appearing just fine...:rotfl2: . Think it would make a good episode title if he were to go for an appearance or something by himself.

It doesn't seem like Kate likes the boys as much, which is sad. She is always talking about how dirty and gross they are. And now the girls are lucky they don't have to share a bathroom with the messy boys. I have one of each and they share a bathroom and my girl is much messier than my boy! Maybe he is not typical, but I still find it sad when she says those things about the boys.

Does your son want to come get mine into shape???:rotfl: . No matter how much we show him how to clean up after himself he still needs reminding (he's 5). DD3 prefers to use our bathroom rather than theirs. Good thing we don't have the "don't step foot in the room under penalty of severe consequences" rule or she would be leaving puddles in the hall.:lmao:

Yep, true or not it is sad.

So the mom of the octuplets has an agent, she was on TV this morning. She didn't say much though, I guess you can't say much if you plan to sell the story. She did say it was a doctor in the US which i know there was some speculation that maybe it wasn't. I hate that I find it interesting, but I have to admit I do. It's another "train wreck" thing, you know. Wish you could look away but you just can't. I just can't imagine thoe poor kids, all of them. I hear the babies are doing well though, and that is great.

I think the intrest in this shoudl actually be seen as a learning opportunity...and the more details that come out could help "us" learn more. Like, first, that there are Drs out there that are willing to maybe go to the extremes or possibly not follow what many would see as "ethical" medical practices. I woudl hope that medical review boards would thak this as a we need to maybe some rules, not just suggestions for better safety. Second, for parents who do need medical intervention to become pregnant to not only find out information to keep themselves and future babies safe, but also check the Drs qualifications. And Third, for society to realize that what we are watching all this and almost giving the "OK" for companies to pay outrageous amounts of $ to get these personal stories (and yes, I do cntribute to this be watching some reality shows occasionally). This is a FOR PROFIT society. Weren't there rumors that she was also paid to have all her children???

The difference of a train wreck or car wreck...that gets cleaned up and traffic keeps flowing, you may hear about it for a few days on the news and then it dies out. Subjects like this are shown or talked about on various shows (talk, news, news talk, reality shows, reality based tv movies) for a longer period of time. We could look away or change the channel, but seriously when it seems to be everywhere it begins to peek curiosity.

I watched the new house episode, tonight, and I must say that I was shocked they kicked the kids out of the bedroom and threatened severe punishment. What if there was an emergency? When we were kids, if one of us was throwing up, someone always ran downstairs to get mom and dad. And in the mornings, we'd run downstairs and get in bed with them.... I can't believe they'd kick their kids out of their room. I think she's gonna back down on that.

And the fridge.... I didn't really see what the big deal was. I think she overreacted (like she does to most things). I mean.... who really cleans the refrigerator that often? To do so, you have to take all of the food out and it gets hot and goes bad. The only time it's really necessary (imo) is when something is spilled in there. Then empty the shelf and the one below it and wipe up the mess. Germaphobes annoy me. A little dirt doesn't do much harm. Sure, the fridge was dirty and she had to clean it.... but she didn't have to make such a big deal about it.

I like the house, though. It's a nice house.

I have a rule no kids in my room/office - it never sticks well, but it IS the rule :) and I DAILY remind my kids to get out of my room - but it's mostly cause I don't want them in my stuff and dragging toys in there that I am tripping over all day long! They have five other rooms to play in my house, so I think it's ok that I get one! :)

Also, maybe I am a freak, but I do clean my fridge monthly - and I would clean the ENTIRE HOUSE just like Kate did the fridge if I moved into a house someone else had previously lived in . . . sorry but I don't like other peoples germs - heck, I cleaned my BRAND NEW house top to bottom when I moved in - I'm nuts . . . I know

I was wondering if the people they bought the house from ever watched the show. She was making such a huge deal about the filthy fridge! Although, I would probably be the same way.

Totally understandable...who knows how long the house was closed up or what kind of habits the people before them had living there. I make a point of giving the house a good "scrub" before I go on vacation...nothing like coming home to a clean house with fresh sheets...now if only the suitcases would unpack themselves and the laundry be done I'd be set.:rotfl:

They walked away with how much $$$ (providing that it was a private seller not a need to sell/foreclosure situation)...I wouldn't care what she thought, personally. And the owners may have left the house clean with the fridge door open, but with time and agents showing the house who knows how "Used" or dirty it could have become.

I watched part of the show where they took the kids to see the new house am I correct in seeing that there are 2 different stairways in the house 1 for the twins an another for the other 6? That the upstairs does not connect meanin to get from 1 side to another you have to go back down stairs thru a room or 2 to the other stairway?

If I'm correct WHO in their right mind would put kids in that kind of situation WHAT if there is a fire in the middle of the night?

I would not want my kids that young on a different floor from me even if both sides of the upstairs connects esp not that many kids but then I wouldn't want that many kids....

I wouldn't want that pool with that many little ones either.....we got a pool when DD was 3 almost 4 yrs old that was a bit dif she was only 1 to watch even then as she got bigger an could stand up in pool I had a rule NO going under water while I went to potty, had porta pot in pool barn right by pool.

Funny I don't remember EVER being in my parents room as a kid at any age, mine was not allowed toys in my room past the baby stage. DH an I had a few conflicts over them comin an gettin in bed with us on his nights off because I let them sleep with me the nights he worked. They was all trained to knock an wait for OK before they open door as they got older.

But even then youngest DD 18 ran screaming an woke up dad last week during ice storm when she thought a big huge tree had fallen on her car an the house. DH had to run her out so he could get dressed.

I was asking my DH the same thing...I mean she could have just said that she cleaned the fridge for a while. She could have left out all the "disgusting, EWWWWW, YUCK, remarks"..yes. I agree mold is nasty and can harm you, but come on...either clean it up and shut up or get a new fridge (which is what she did afterward)...sometimes she just goes completely overboard!!!

I love the show from the stand point of having something on that I don't have to worry about my kids watching. The best episodes are about the kids, not the parents. When the episode is mostly about Kate I change the channel.

me, DH and kids used to watch the show all the time, but the last year or so has lost it's luster. people are losing there homes and jobs and instead they are getting all expense paid trips to Disney, Colorado and buying estate homes and colleges paid for. The only we go to Disney and cruising is when Fl ressie rates come out! We also are thrifty and shop sales and clearance. I cannot imagine what a life woule be like that Kate has when strangers come and wash, fold and put away their clothes and god bless the auntie who Kate unloads the group on!! The episode when she gave gum to the kids was great!!! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I think it's great that get the help they may need, but I would have more respect if they took responsibility for the choices they made to have all the kids. Volunteers are one thing, but the rest seems rather glutteness to me. Just MHO And tomorrow will go back to working 2 jobs, coupon clipping, reading sale adds and taking care of our family ourselves.

You have as many children as you Can Afford ! I think it is a shame what they are doing .... like the Duggers with 18 children now ........ are you kidding ??? Some people need a Brain Transplant !! Hows the snow in Boyertown ...... Lititz here !!

Could Auntie Jodi have don't this on purpose??? just to p.off Kate?

In the episode where they took the kids to see the house for the first time.. did anyone else notice that they were in a white 10 passanger van instead of their blue one? You can see it when the kids are in their car seats and it's parked out front as they are walking through the front door with the kids.

Wonder if it was a rental to throw off people who might follow them or if they purchased a new van too?

:thumbsup2 Or maybe to get out of babysitting so much! J/K, she seemed like a wonderful lady who loved those kids, but your idea sounds good!

All I know is my 3 yo chews gum (usually she is the one to ask). When she takes it I ask where it goes when she is finished with it and she says the garbage. I have NEVER found it on the ground or stuck to anything. Once I saw it fall out of her mouth and she picked it up and put it in the garbage without me saying a thing.
If Jodi taught her children to chew gum and the other children said they could chew it at the same age I could see why she would think it would be ok. Kate did NOT need to disrespect her like that...or treat the child in that tone if they were never taught to chew gum. If it was me I out a glob in Kate's hair after seen that episode...but I'm not very nice :rotfl: .

This is kind of off topic about their new house, but Kate was at the home show in Indianapolis yesterday and I was so shocked when I saw her. She is tiny! I know that she had the lipo on her stomach but she is just so skinny. She looks thin on the show but not as thin as she is in person! she looks great.

She was on one of the news shows the other night talking about the mother with the 8 babies...Even on TV (and that supposedly adds how much???) she looked SKINNY...not small, but her face looked boney skinny. Hey, probably thought the fridge was still yuck, so no food :lmao:

This is part of an article on Yahoo by the AP:

In a brief excerpt of the interview released Thursday, the 33-year-old single mother tells "Today" show anchor Ann Curry she had a dysfunctional childhood and sought to erase that with the closeness children could bring. NBC says the full interview will air Monday.

Sounds like she should have had therapy instead.

It also reports that the sperm was donated by a friend. If he doesn't already pay child support, think she'll start to ask? Or if she uses the kids to make $$ he'll want a cut?

I've noticed this too in recent episodes. Although I'm sure that if I were on national tv on a weekly basis, it would make me think a little harder about my weight. It's really noticable when you compare her to the pre tummy tuck episodes. She is much heavier in general then. Good for her. There's hope for me yet, only I need to come up with the cash for the plastic surgeon. ;)

I have to say I agree with most of you. I watched the show in the beginning because I found it amazing that they could manage what they did. Kate always got on my nerves and my DH was appauled at how she spoke to Jon.

Now on the other hand my DD7 is a HUGE fan of the show, watches it all the time and has seen probably every episode due to our DVR. She came out of school the other day bouncing off the walls. A girl in her class told her that Kate was going to be at our local Borders bookstore for a signing. I agreed to take her since it was local.

I have to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed in what happened there. We arrived and got our wristband, purchased our book and waited to be called. They had the line snaking through the bookshelves, at the last turn they announced that it was the last area you could take any pictures absolutely no pictures at the table :confused3 . They had pre-flapped the book, an employee took the book from you as you got to the front of the line and slid it in front of Kate, she signed and you moved on. :sad2: I noticed that she didn't even make eye contact with the few groups in front of us! I had my DDs 7 & 11 take the book up and she did look up at them and ask if the book was for them, I answered that it was really the 7yr old that begged to come, she asked DD if she liked school and then the lady behind us pushed us out of the way. I knew they were hurrying the last few people through the line after us so I told DDs to hang around a bit to see if they could say goodbye to her. She finished signing, was nearly surrounded by store people and security up to the front of the store, she went in a back room put on a coat and then walked to the back of the store. She didn't make any eye contact with anyone, didn't smile or even say goodbye! She did look great though, stylish outfit, very thin, white teeth, hair and make-up but there was absolutely no warmth or personality at all.

Now granted, I have no idea what her schedule was like leading up to this signing, it might have been grueling but she was only at this store for 1 hour. You think she could have at least made some eye contact with the 100s of people that had plunked down $20+ per book and waited in line to get it signed. It certainly did absolutely nothing to improve my thoughts of her.

Sorry about the experience. My dd5, absolutely loves the show as well. Do you mind my asking which Borders she was at? My friend goes to the church that Kate spoke at last week. I haven't seen her lately, so I'm not sure if she went to watch her speak or not.
I'm not surprised by what you've described. In the last several episodes, Kate has this attitude of arrogance about her that seems very different than the first season. Maybe it's just my opinion, but it seems like all of this fame has gone to her head. I still watch the show, but agree that it is becoming less appealing especially when they spend more time on J&K instead of the kids.
