I'm counting the moments until I can order my Verizon iPhone on Thursday and I wanted to ask a few questions since I know most of The Dis LOVES the iPhone

# 1: Can you recommend a good case ?

# 2: Do I need one of those protective films for the screen or is a good case enough ?

That's all I can think of for now.
Us Verizon users have been waiting a long time for iPhones and I just want to keep mine safe once I'm lucky enough to finally get it :)

I still have the 3GS, not the 4 so I can't help with a case. But definitely you need to get a screen protector. I don't like the anti glare ones, although they cut the glare, to me they seem to detract from the clarity of the screen.

I have had an iPhone for several years and have never had a film cover. I don't like them. My husband has always had one. He had the original phone, the 3G and now the 4 and has had a screen on every one of them. Frankly I find them pointless and they are really a matter of personal opinion. I would recommend trying it without for a while and deciding.

I have the 3GS so I can't recommend a case. Have fun with your new phone! I have a coworker who is counting down the days until the 10th.

I have a 3G and wouldn't use it without a protective film on the screen. I highly recommend it. For a case, I have an OtterBox one. There's lots of different styles worth checking out. It's very strong and I love that I got one in pink! :D

I have a 3GS and initially I used a screen protector. I removed that sucker to regain the clarity that I loved when I first saw it. Sure, I know I'm taking a chance scratching this thing but I've had it for over a year and managed not to.

We have been purchasing skins from www.iskin.com since the mid-2000s. We think they make great products; we've probably owned 15 cases from them over the years for all our various iPod and iPhone products. They're not like having an Otterbox, but we've dropped our phones and iPods numerous times and they do offer enough cushioning that we've never had a broken one or even a screen chip or break.

I do always use a screen protector - the best ones I found were the ones they used to sell at the Apple store made by Power Support (they were discontinuing them at the Apple store, not sure if they stuck with that decision or not). Here's a link to the current screen protectors we are using - I think they are exceptionally clear.

I could not agree more, I'm on my 3rd Iphone (gen 2, 3gs, 4) I have never had a case or screen protector. Never had a problem. I would put my 3gs in my pocket with my keys all the time, still looks new.

If something goes wrong replacing the screen is less then $100. A good protector and case are going to run to about $30-$40 I would say the phone is much more enjoyable without the case. It's like getting a kid an American Girl doll then make her play with it in a plastic bag because it was expensive.

Skip the iPhone...Andriod is where it's at.
You could wait an extra 6 months to a year for good apps and have about 40,000 less to choose from. :confused3 Why would you want that?

Plus if you have other apple products they can all be synced together.

Be very careful with ordering cases for the Verizon iPhone 4. In the reviews that are starting to pop up (I read Engadget's) they state that the volume buttons are slightly different than the AT&T version. This means the cases that are already out will not work!

Personally, I have 3 cases that I rotate and an invisible shield. I like the invisible shield screen protector since it does not detract from the screen clarity. I carry the phone sans case some days and my Invisible shield works great.
For everyday I carry my phone in a speck candy shell. Protective, stylish, and pocket friendly. When I need extra protection I have an otterbox defender. Love this case! I use it when I don't carry a purse and I am planning to be outside (like at WDW). I also recently acquired a mophie juice pack air. It has a battery pack for when I run out of juice at the end of a long day. I haven't found much use for it yet since the battery does a great job on it's own! I usually get 2 days and might need the extra battery at the end of day 2.

I know I rambled, but I spend all day with this stuff and have to explain my choices to customers all the time.

I second the "no screen protector" suggestion... I had one on my 3G, but eventually became furious with trying to get one on without bubbles in it, so when I got my 3GS, I ditched it and never looked back. The screen is very scratch resistant, dont sweat it.

I have an iphone 4 now and I cant imagine hiding the beautiful retina display behind a stupid piece of plastic.

I use an incipio case I picked up at walmart, just to protect it in case I drop it (which I have with no problems).

As someone who has owned an iPhone since the 3G, and have had an iPhone 4 since they hit the shelves, I can say don't buy anything, until you have the phone a while. Why? You may find it totally unnecessary, as I have, to cover up this work of art with anything at all. :)

Seriously. I have never used a case and I keep the phone in my pants pocket. No scratches, marks, or anything other than what would be expected on a device after a few years. I take back that never statement on the case though. I DID have one for a short time when I bought my first 3G. It was in in Case "case". It is also the only thing that ever put a scratch on the phone, LOL.

As far as screen protectors, again, totally unnecessary, and, IMO, a complete waste of WAY too much money for what they are. I have tried a few over time, and found they never give the same responsiveness on the screen as well, a naked screen. Again, after yeas in my pocket, with daily use, not a scratch on the screen.

Try it naked before you cover it up. You may find it's the best way to use it.

I rarely, if ever, drop my phone. I just use the basic bumper case, which I like because it gives the iPhone a little "grip" if I set it down on something that's not perfectly level. My wife, on the other hand, has a bad habit of dropping phones. She went through three Treo smartphones in a year and a half - one that the store replaced for free because they'd never seen a phone in that condition before. So her iPhone is in an Otterbox Defender, and this may already be the longest she's ever gone without having to have a phone replaced for physical damage issues. :)

Oh - and no screen protector is necessary. The new material they're using for the screens is excellent.

I'm looking for a case now for a slightly different reason. I'm getting ready to order an iPhone 4 and will be passing the 3GS on to my eight year old daughter. While she has done very well with her Samgsung Flight this past year, I still want to protect it from damage.

I ordered the Verizon iPhone  and it shows it's
supposed to be delivered today. I ordered this case + screensaver

I have an additional question (sorry to highjack thread),
but can I plug the phone into iTunes and load it up with music
and apps, but not activate it? I ask this because I don't have
the case and screensaver yet. I don't want to use the phone
until it's properly dressed:upsidedow

Thanks!

I have my iPhone 4 in a casemate case with screen protection; survived one hot coffee already! I'm such a klutz ;-)

It's all a matter of personal preference. I have a silicone protector for mine. I think that will absorb more of the force of impact than a hard one will...but I'm not the Queen of Physics and don't know why I think that and could be completely wrong. I like the feel of the softer ones better, too. I've been told that no case is needed, though.

I had a screen cover for about a year and then I got rid of it. The screens must be pretty tough, because I toss that thing in my pocket or purse all the time and it hasn't scratched yet. I don't think they're necessary, but if you want one, you should get one. They sell them in the Apple store and will even put it on for you. :)

I've had an iphone since they first came out and I'm a big fan! I upgraded to the 4 recently and use it with a speck case and no screen protector. I found that the screen protector picked up more makeup/sweat/etc from my face and was harder to clean!

Well , I missed out on the pre-order the other day :sad2:
By the time I was able to get online to order , it was sold out. Guess I'll have to wait a few more days :sad1:

I have decided to live on the edge and not use a screen protector :scared1:
I can just tell that I won't like it.
