Has anyone seen the movie Inkheart? I was just wondering what ages it would be appropriate for. I have a DD9 who is starting to read the books. I also have a DS7. He's the one I'm not sure about. Thanks! :goodvibes

We thought it was a pretty good movie-our DD9 liked it a lot. We don't usually do this, but we took a chance and also took our DS3(he's 4 today!!!!) with us too-couldn't find a baby sitter. There are definitely some scary moments towards the end of the movie, but my DS looked away or asked me if it was real and once I told him no he was fine. All in all, a good family movie.

Here is an excerpt from MSN's Parent's Guide to the Movies"

The screen version is considerably tamed, despite the big effects. This movie is rated PG and wouldn't be a good choice for kids younger than, say, 9. There's a scary scene at the end with a giant monster made of burning ash, and it has the potential to be inappropriately scary for kids younger than that.
Hope this helps!!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm sure DD9 would be fine and I'm guessing that DS7 would be fine with it also. He has seen all of the Harry Potter movies with no problems, so I'm hoping he'll be ok with this one.

If he has seen the Harry Potter movies then he will be fine to see Inkheart. You should be warned though if your DD is reading the books, I just finished the last book of the series and it was terrific, but it is a little adult. My DD is 9 and she is part-way through the second book, I have been talking to her about the books and warning her that some of it is pretty dark.

Thanks for the warning about the books. Has your DD read the Harry Potter books? I was wondering how they would compare. DD read the whole Harry Potter series a couple of summers ago and loved them all. It's hard when I don't have the time to read all of these books before she does, but I just don't have the spare time that a 9 yr old has. :confused3

Saw the movie with my ten year old. It was not scary. Probably less dark than Harry Potter movies.
Read the book too. It was so much better than the movie. They changed a good bit and left out a lot of details. I suppose it's that way with may book to movie stories.
