I have somehow managed to let my Mom's 60th birthday sneak up on me.* It's in 2 weeks and I have nothing special planned.:(** What can I do that is special, but not expensive?* If I could send her off on a fabulous spa weekend, I would, but I can't.* I know ya'll have some creative ideas.* Obviously, I need all the help I can get.

For my DM birthday and DIn-laws, we had all the family members handwrite a letter to the birthday person, then included a picture and sort of "scrapbooked it up"! And this was pre-scrapbook days!

If your family isn't very big you could always include friends letters and or more pictures.

My DMom feels this was her favorite gift ever!

My sisters and I went simple for dm's 60th. We sent her a pretty (handmade by me) invitation to spend the day we us. We took her to lunch at a small local "tea" shop and invited her sister and my two cousins to join us for lunch. Then we spent the day having a "girls" day. We wandered the art museum (free), relaxed during the afternoon at a downtown hotel's outdoor bar, went to see a movie (free tickets) and then went out for dinner before heading home.

We did it all as inexpensively as possible but we had an awesome time just spending the day together.

If you can't afford a spa weekend, what about just a spa day? For my mother's 60th bday last fall, my sister and I took her to a nice spa and paid for her to have a body massage and facial, then we all got pedicures together. We ended the day with a party in her honor with all of our family members there and a big cake with "60" on top. I think she really enjoyed the one on one time with my sister and I the most!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! :thumbsup2 I'm not at all creative and have a hard time coming up with good ideas.

For my mom's 75th I bought a Vera Bradley tote and filled it with a bunch of little knick-knacks. I got some stuff personalized, though unfortuantely you may not have enough time. One thing I did one year was steal a picture of our family from her house (I was about 6) and get it blown up and framed. Now there are so many options you can add to photos, recently for a friend I had one blown up and had a oil paint filter put on it (took a month though). I'd like to imagine that you could get something framed in that short of an amount of time, though you unfortuantely never know.

And no, you're not a bad daughter. For my parent's 50th anniversary we had a big party, being so concerned with planning I completely forgot an actual gift! I realized that about two hours before we left so we just stopped at a little store and ended up buying a big silver platter. Two weeks is nothing! :rotfl:
