OT--I just have to brag

I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of my daughter, Shelby. She competed on Friday and Sat. in a local figure skating competition. On Friday she took 1st place in her long program and on Sat. she took 3rd in her short program. This is the 1st time she has gotten a gold medal!! I think she is still on the clouds (maybe me too??). Anyways, I just had to share. Have a great day!

OMG, what a coincidence!!!! My God-daughter's name is Shelby and she did the same exact thing this weekend too.

Oh, that's right. They are one in the same. LOL

I am so proud of her. I just wish we could see her compete once. Maybe she should compete over here on the other side of the state and we could watch.

WDWMom....what a coincidence! I will bring her comp video and ice show DVD when I come to scrap.

I knew she did well on Friday, but Saturday I wasn't sure. She was up against some good skaters. Her coach told me that there was nothing more she could've asked Shelby to do better. She did everything the way she was taught and did it well. Her next one is Sept 17-18. Let's see if she does as well then. It's about time all the money and practice pays off.

Time to go make my Italian sausage for dinner. Happy day...

Sophie is a 3 -4 month old baby who is emmasgrammy's other GD. Emma and her mother (EG's DS#1) died in a fire at their home last Saturday, and Sophie is in the hospital with smoke inhalation brain damage. There are several threads on the cruise board about this tragic occurance. EG is on the CA-FL Repo cruise, which is how we all found out, her DH posted it. It is so sad, and has struck a lot of people very hard. Emma was only 4. They had all gone on a WDW/DCL vacation earlier this year and EG had written a hilaious trip report about a water park. She had also just posted pictures from the cruise last week, including several of Emma. The purple ribbons are because that was Emmas favourite colour, and the halo indicates that she is now an Angel, and the symbol is just a rememberance and a reminder to pray, if you are so inclined, or add your good thought for Sophie to pull through.
