It's been rumored for quite sometime that the store where my DH works is going to be sold. Well, the deal went through yesterday and now my DH is in limbo. Not sure if he's going to keep his job, benefits, vacation time, etc. Just need a little pixie dust because we're going on our very first family trip to WDW in October. My DH has worked at this same store since he was 15 years old, it's the only job he's ever had. I don't know who's more upset, me or him.:confused3

Thanks for letting me vent.

Stephanie

Definitely sending lots of pixie dust your way! :wizard: I don't envy the position. Sometimes you get those hurdles thrown at you and its very stressful. I hope your DH hears something soon about his job and the security he will or won't have with the new ownership. That way you at least know how to proceed with things.

*pixie dust sent*

I feel your pain. Right now my hubby is on his tippy toes with his job. Nothing is planned for a lay off but when you work somewhere and they slow a lot of things down it makes you worry. He went ahead an applied somewhere else which would be a better job anyway but if it doesn't pan out then we are make to being on pins and needles over his current job.

Keep the faith. Things have a way of working themselves out!

Wow that is hard. I'm sending loads of pixie dust your way. I hope everything works out.

:tink: Pixie dust coming your way!

I hope your dh is able to keep his job with this new company. New ownership can be scary! My dh works for a turn around management firm that goes into business that are having hardships and, depending on how bad off they are, will try to find a buyer to take over the company, but more often than not the company has to close it doors. I'm just happy your dh's company wasn't one of those that closed it's doors!

We're in the same position here. DH's entire department is being moved to another state. He's been with the company for 21 years! We have absolutely no intention of moving with the department. We both grew up in the city where we live and have deep roots here. My parents still live here and our kids are their only grandkids. It would kill them if we took the kids to another state (DH's parents also lived here but are both deceased). We also fought to get our oldest into a private school for kids with Asperger's. It's very rare to find such a specialized school and it's only 10 miles from our house. He's doing so well there that we wouldn't dream of moving him. Plus, housing prices in our area are through the roof! We bought our house almost 11 years ago and its value has more than doubled. If we decided to leave this area, it would have to be for good since we'd never be able to afford a house at the current prices.

The good news is that there's still a chance for DH to find another job locally in the company. Only his department is moving. But, there are several people trying for the same jobs. Hopefully his longevity with the company and the many skills he's acquired will give him a leg up on the competition.

Never an easy position to be in! Hope it works out for you!:)
